I have today (at last) got my rose jointed compression rods fitted :D
The old ones had chewed their way through the chassis again even with new bushes :doh
Running big wheels puts a large amount of strain and wear on stuff when bashing it about offroad
So I modified the ends of the comp rods to take a female 5/8" x 5/8" ball joint.
Basically cut the old thread off and tapped the rest to suit the rose joint

Next I had to cut off the old comp rod bushes and braketry off the car
Much harder than I thought and had to have them torched off :surrender
Got a mate to weld on the new brackets to the chassis. There was very little room due to the torsion bar

From underneath I hope you can see now how the rose joint does it's work better than the bloody rubber poo I cut off

So hopefully my steering geometry will stay somewhere near the car now :lol
I'll find out tomorrow as I'm going offroading for a couple of days "Testing" :naughty

what does it do exactly?

depends on what standard you buy but effectively its a precision machined bit of kit as opposed to (as Pete says) a bit of rubber stuffed in. Problem with them though is they wear because theres no rubber to absorb the mechanical shock as it bashed about.

Itll be interesting to see how it goes.

These are much easier to change than the rubber ones too ;)
I spoke to the manufacturers who are also "interested" to see how they go :D

Update.

My rose jointed comp rod has failed
Now I don't know if this was 5 years ago or recently ?? I had some "testing" over the fields and noticed things were not as they were , with one side moving about a bit.
So had a spy under neath and erm, well the rose joint cage bit had come adrift.
Ordered a couple of bigger joints but same 5/8 bolt size.

My local lathe jocket made up a sleeve to fit over the comp rod and the boy welded it in place.
Got it all bolted back in tonight and new testing will continue :naughty

Fingers crossed this upgrade will hang on the the 35s :D
