Myself and a small group of friends have aquired the lease on a small parcel of land , with the intention of starting a community garden / urban farm

it's only about an acre, but has the advantage of being securley fenced!

we have enthusiasm but no cash

our intention is to take the following steps, ormal constitution, ltd. company, regstered charity.

though we are interested in involving the whole community in an area with 'issues' our focus is on over 50's an age group that seems to miss out on all the funding for life changing projects.


we need loads of help!


firstly, how do we go about making a decent and free web site!

if anyone has any help to offer the lad is in Dudley West Midlands, any advie or help welcome.

clivvy is your man for computer advice with regards to setting up and running a web site ..... as for running the project , i suggest you fid a way of recieving funds ( paypal ?? ) for the inevitable costs that will occur

we was looking at something similar on dads farm , he's too old for livestock and too small for crops. we have only briefly looked into using a few acres for large secure allotments and possibly community/ school /education projects.

basically we have the land but nothing to use it for
be nice to make use of it, get it working again . and maybe make some dosh on the way for upkeep of fencing hedging and tracks .

Check out Lottery Grants or local council for community Project Grants. The money is there for these grants but not enough groups apply.

setting up a simple website should be easy. wont be free as you'd have to pay for the domain name BUT were talking a few quid every few years (at least thats all i pay) after that its getting someone to design it for you.

im happy to do you something basic, but im no expert, and it would depend on what you want. I have my own basic website, and my other half has one for her guinea pigs:

again, very basic and they dont get any maintenance but these give you some idea of what you can do at home yourself without much effort, again, happy to advise or help out if I can.
