Hi folks,
I have noticed that the top radiator hose is almost completely flat when the engine is cold.Once it is up to running temperature it becomes round again.
Does this sound normal? Its the hose that goes from the radiator to the thermostat housing.
The car seems to be warming up as normal, and the heater is working fine.No loss of coolant.
Thanks in advance.

hi harajack, could be a faulty radiater cap, try taking off cap when engine is cold. take the expansion bottle cap first. -banghead-

Sounds like it might be time to get a new one.

Hi harajack.
Had a similar experience to this with another car some years ago and it turned out to be the little bleed valve in the thermostat which was blocked. It caused a vacuum in the top of the rad and the top hose.
Still can't figure out why this should have been so:  but a new thermostat insert did the trick 8) Perhaps yours is the same :?: :?: :?:
Just an idea

If you are changing the thernmostat get a gnuine nissan one if you can! I have had bad experiences with some of the aftermarket ones! One 'blue print' stat damaged the housing when I tightened it down and caused all sorts of problems, and the real thing isn't that much different on price.

Thanks for the replies.
Took radiator cap off, pipe then returned to normal.Does this indicate a faulty cap?or thermostat?
thanks again

Check your over flow hose to the expansion chamber and see if blocked, if ok replace the radiator cap.
If still persisting then thermostat

Start with simple cheap things first

Mine is definately round all of the time. Replaced my rad a few weeks ago as it was shot. I changed all of the original "wire" hose clamps to new jubilee clips at the same time, just for peace if mind, as they seemed to be pinching the hoses.

Lee.

Thanks again to everyone who took the time to reply, gives me a few things to go on.
