hi all,
my terrano lost power this morning on the to way work,
has been running fine, then suddenly no power,
pulled up swiched off and restarted , ran as normall,
just checked for fault codes and got code 95,
on the download i got from on here there is no code 95,
checked it three times,
same code 95,
any ideas ?

Another forum suggests crank position sensor for fault code 95.

Scratch that I looked deeper and they seemed to have compiled a list of generic Nissan codes and not specific to the Terrano.

code 95 ? crank position sensor ?

I have also checked and I`m been told crank position sensor,

had a look and my cps is on the gearbox bell housing above the flywheel,

could do with a second opinion tho,

cars running fine now and i have cleared the code and will have to wait and see if it does it again

judd what reader you using.i got one with the plug converter but it tries to read but fails, mine is a 99 2.7td.just wondering.

I`m using the paper clip method of shorting the pins out on the consult plug under the dash,

been searching the web and found that code 95 could be crank position sensor,

problem is they are about £100 !!!!
a lot of money just to try a new one

It does not sound as though the CPS has completely died.

One of he characteristics of a failing CPS are that is more far prone to failing when the CPS has got good and hot, this is mainly due to the magnet in it loosing permeability as the temperature rises. Its an age related thing!
Leave it to cool down and it will be fine, until it gets hot again.

i now have a consult 11 reader working with ece talk it allows me to read codes clear them and look at live data in real time brilliant. its on the old 14 pin connector when alex came round he has the 16 pin connector so could plug it into the lap top.

didnt some one here find a post from another site where they fitted a sensor from a vw ? they had to fit a collar for correct fit but the whole thing cost less than £20

yes , i have read a post on here about fitting one from an audi A3.
there about £12.50, so i`m going to try one of them,

when it lost power this morning (6.30) i`d only done about 1/4 of a mile so the engine was still cold,
been alright the rest of today , been up to normal operating temperature and not missed a beat,
didn`t use the car at all yesterday and it rained heavily,
could it just have been damp ?
