clutch pedal stuck down (im a diy mechanic get me outa here)

is it possible that the push rod where it connects the piston has grease on and if the seals on the piston had gone then this grease is what i am finding in the fluid?
also in the manual it says about a air bleeder on my car there isnt one just the master and the clutch operating cylinder no other connections anywhere

is yours fitted with the damper pipe that runs from the clutch hose to the back of the car and ends up near the back wheel if so there is a bleed nipple there

no its just the master leading down into the junction box (little square thing metal thing no bleed nipples on it ) then clutch hose going from there into the slave cylinder on clutch housing , there is a bleed nipple on the slave cylinder but thats it doesnt go no further as in manual suggests

master cylinder £38.00 driving my terrano again priceless!!!!!
opened the master cylinder piston seal broken resulting in clutch pedal feeling heavy and returning slowly ,
new master cylinder on now bled all the black gunk out of the system and pedal is like new springy as anything brilliant ,
although this instruction in the manual about bleeding the system using the air bleeder valve near the rear of the car well my car does not have the same it just has bleed valve on slave and other on master ,bled the slave first then back up to the master perfect now ,many thanks for everyones help

£38 was that for a new master, recon or second hand.

Great youv'e got it fixed, shame to miss all the fun in the snow.

:thumb2thats new from milner but you have to ADD on the vat and delivery but t ends up £53 ON EBAY THE CHEAPEST I FOUND WAS JUST UNDER £60and its the same part exactly the only problem i did come across was the piece that connects to the pedal with the pin holding it in . the one on mine was a much larger hole thats all but i just unscrewed it and puut my one on same piece only smaller hole on the new one:thumb2

Nice one pablo, shame I sold the one off my maverick ages ago or you could have had that. The manual is different because it's for the later 2.7TDi. There isn't an online manual for our model, and while a lot of things are the same, there are some differences (as you've just found out)
