clutch pedal stuck down (im a diy mechanic get me outa here)

the cyl would work even if it was filled with water as long as it was not frozen, is the "fluid" in the resovoir dirty/black/brown/beige , the discolouring has to come from somewhere how about the seal in the master cyl, i have seen this countless times, the piston seal can expand and go very soft and start to stick in cyl , often caused by incorrect "fluid" being added to resovoir eg hydraulic oil or even engine oil
whip it off and strip it down and please do post your findings a few pics would be good

Get that master cylinder off Pablo, strip it and clean it out using DOT4 brake fluid only, rebuild it and fit new seals (if you can get them). Or just replace the whole thing.

no, one works your clutch slave cyl, the other works your brake wheel cyls or calipers!!!

fitter is a very general word i prefer mechanic, fitters fit things, i served my time as an apprentice mechanic and i (try to) repair things, it's more satisfying to repair a part than just stick a new part on..............smug smug ha ha

got the master of opened it full of blackk oily gunk ,just stripped it now and it seems the psiton inside it can be pushed in but is not returning back out i will put some pics on here in a minute

at the moment its all stripped the only thing that wont come out is the piston itself it went in a bit further but wont return on its own anyone any ideas how to get it out some heat maybe or would that do further damage ? argue amongst yourselves lol:thumb2 well at least its not snowing here and only just freezing

is it possible that the push rod where it connects the piston has grease on and if the seals on the piston had gone then this grease is what i am finding in the fluid?
also in the manual it says about a air bleeder on my car there isnt one just the master and the clutch operating cylinder no other connections anywhere

is the a circlip in the rod end . if so remove it and tap the cyl on bench and should come out

ive took the rod out and im left with just the master with the cylinder in it and the spring and cylinder is just stuck in there

try tapping it a bit harder

Do you know the history of the vehicle, it maybe that some one put the wrong spec fluid in, we should use DOT 4

May be only solution is to replace the master, and check out the slave at the same time .

I'll be changing my clutch fluid after all the snow has gone, don't want it off the road this week..:doh

sorry it took so long had to walk down to the bleeding shop lol,who invented walking ?
looks like you are all right the seal is split on the rear of the piston managed to get it out heres a picture many thanks everyone :thumbs
