Hey chaps,

was just having a nosey round the engine bay as you do, noticed my clutch fluid is down to minimum. A quick look underneath and no visible leaks, except maybe something by the gearbox but ill get my torch to that tonight.

apart from topping up, is there anything specific I need to check for leaks? What fluid do I use to top up?

hope you can help, thanks!

Poss not leaking but perhaps a weeping hose by the slave.

Get someone to pump and hold the pedal whilst you feel for damn/wet.

Alternatively it could be an internal split in the pipe making a new chamber for the fluid to travel into :thumb2

thanks for the tips Alex, I will give it a try. I pumped the pedal myself earlier then got out and checked for fluid but couldn't see anything. Ill investigate properly tonight with my torch. For now I will top it up and see what happens!
:thumbs

Clutch Arrgh.Last year i replaced the master cylinder flexi hose.Done away with the damper, and last week i replaced the slave cylinder.

ok, where is it?!:thumbs

Check the slave and pipe coming away from the slave if you still have the damper pipe my money would be on that. The rubber seal on the slave can fail and then only leaks small amounts which could cause the damp patch you have seen

It's the pipe that is attached to the slave cylinder mate..

oh that...the brake cylinder? I thought it was the clutch cylinder I needed to look at? I have a pipe running down from that to wherever, that appears fine at the slave end (where the fluid is low)

it looks like this

Clivvy dead easy to find and must be easy to do cos I managed on my old truck. Personally i wouldnt do away with the damper but theres a thread all of its own for that cookie. If you need a slave cylinder give me a shout as i have a brand new one that ive not used.

oohh, cheers Jim I will let you know

hi chaps,

managed to get under the car today and check the clutch master and flexi pipe.

all appears ok though. I did notice some oil at the bottom of the gearbox again but that doesn't concern me too much and I don't think its related.

The other thing I noticed, was some fluid UNDER the clutch fluid reservoir cylinder. I couldn't see if it had leaked out of the reservoir or anything, it was just literally a bit under there. I wiped it up, tightened up the reservoir as it didn't seem overly tight and just tested by pressing/releasing the clutch. Probably not a good test so will take for a drive this weekend!

here are some photos from underneath..

any other clues??
