when carrying out 3 point turns, with wheel on full lock and car going very slowly, there is a noticeable clunk from the front end.

having just had 2 new hubs fitted, and the car not being used in 4wd, can anyone suggest what it might be ?

it happens both when going forward and backward.

steering bump stops ! are yours greased up!

aye, steering stops, mines the same, needs grease!

just joint this forum tonight and already found a cure for the almighty bang i get on a tight lock, thanks for the link zippy :thumb2

credit where its due,i pooped my self when i heard it,having only having the motor 2 days, glad its a simple job.

I see the chaps are on form and answered your questions.
The first time mine did it, I nearly marked my pants!
Thankfully after reading other offerings on here I greased it up an dall is well, saved my sanity and the washing....two for the price of one

Great

Can you tell me the best place to buy the steering stops from please??
Cheers
Martin

dont!

just grease them up.

only a Nissan part i think but about £12 a set if you must..

but theyll still need greasing

A previous post suggested forcing a short piece of garden hose or reinforced polythene tube over the stop, so that just a short part protrudes forming a shallow void over the stop and then filling this with grease. I tried this and it works well. Of course you have to replace the grease periodically but it's dirt cheap and lasts about as long as the expensive Nissan replacements!

I still get the clunk and mine have been well greased , any ideas of what it could be or how to solve it , thanks.

look at anti roll bar bushes as well then or more grease

hmm...mine only ever clunked on full lock when going over rough ground, or say for example a kerb. I greased mine and now it doesnt do it, but are you saying you get the clunk when on full lock on tarmac>??

Check your steering drag link, the one that goes across the car. If the end ball joints are goosed you can get them twisting and hitting the chassis. If it is that you'll see marks on the chassis rail:augie
