Hi guys Ihope somebody can help me with a problem here goes,if I flatten my battery as I did the other day while doing some electrical repair work not the mav wont start turns over ok but no fire.its a 2 7 5 door 1998 model.thanks

Ours did the same, used brake cleaner sprayed onto the filter to get it going in the end but only played up after a flat battery for the first start up and seemed to be cranking at a decent speed but I assume it must not have been enough for the fuel pressure to build up

Did it work before your electrical works, if so, check what you have done.

That's if I read what you wrote correctly :nenau

I think the thread starter needs retyping to make the problem clear :nenau

Its been typed jumbled up

probably activated / locked out the immobiliser

+1 on this one, what was the immobiliser LED doing on the dash near the windscreen

Did it just sound like the starter was turning, I've had it in the past, you can almost feel the difference and hear the difference with experience.

When turning the car over when the immobiliser is still armed there seems to be a lot less resistance from the starter

Or just a naff battery, mine started off like this after doing work at ricks we had to jump it, drove home and it was ok for a week, then a jump again, until the point that cables wouldn't work. Needed a new battery :thumb2

Also exactly the same symptoms that present themselves when your starter is on the way out :doh

As i found out the hard way, oh well, at least I now have a nice Lucas leisure battery as well as a new starter

Do the old headlight test. This will give you an instant answer :thumb2

I made a video on YouTube called, terrano headlight test :clap

If lights stay same(ish) the starter is buggered, if the lights instantly dim the battery is fooked.

.. if the lights instantly dim the battery is f****d.

Not always though...:nenau
This could also be a poor battery connection, sometimes the battery clamps become open circuit, or poor connection, check both positive and earth connections.
To prove poor connections, place the multimeter probes onto the lead terminals of the battery and monitor it whilst attempting to crank. If lights go dim and you have a healthy 11 volts or more on the battery, then probably poor connections on battery or earth on vehicle etc.

But I think he say's he did some electrical work on the truck and now it won't start..... I think that's what he said :nenau
Maybe if he comes back, he can enlighten us :)
