Just as an aside, any of you chaps have any experience with Terracans?
It's a similar system in Spain, the nearest one to me is in Malaga, about 20 miles away. I had my T2 done about 5 weeks ago, cost was 42€ (about £36) but the retest (it failed) was free.Just for anyone who's interested, this is the way cars are tested here in Northern Ireland.

These centres are operated by the government and there are seventeen in operation across the province. Local garages cannot MOT cars over here.
The centre in the video is quiet for filming purposes, but in reality all lanes are usually in use. The centre I took the Terrano to has seven lanes.
The test takes up to 20 minutes, and all the test readings are collected and stored electronically on the database.
The car test costs £30.50 and if required the retest is £18.50. The centres open from 8am and up to 8pm. As these centres are staff intensive, I've been told the government would like to save money by closing them down and introducing the local garage system thats used on the mainland. I hope to God that never happens as this is a system we can have confidence in.
Thanks for that Sweety - I thought that might be the case. The car is for my daughter. Shes had a LWB Terrano and we thought this new SWB was just the job for towing her horse box. Easier for her to park and didnt take up as much room in the yard. She really liked it and was gutted when we discovered it was a crock. As we like the SWB form I think I'll start looking at Shoguns as well as Terranos. Seen a couple of 3.0 T2s but as we've still got the old 2.7 T2, I think I'll lean towards another 2.7 and keep it for a while in case we need anything off it.
