Access through o/s wheel arch.
Disconnect battery.
Disconnect starter motor cables.
Undo top bolt, ratchet spanner makes it easy ish.
Undo bottom bolt. Extract motor upwards through engine bay. Easing stuff out the way as you go.
Apply plasters

As above, but if you have a body lift it will come out through the wheel arch :thumb2

dont forget to put sealer on it on refitting.

I broke the gasket that came with mine so traced round the old one onto some gasket paper :doh

Funny enough, I did the same when I did the water pump as well on the Maverick

I have a tip.

if you are doing this Petes way (also my way) get a bungee rope and fix it to the starter motor, then the other end to the bonnet. This will stop the starter from falling as you manoeuvre it out between the pipes etc.

worked a treat for me.:thumbs

Didn't Ryan do a thread on this and didn't he put it in back to front :augie

ok, so all the bolts are off, but struggling to get it out of engine bay :nenau:nenau

Ok don't panic. it is a squeeze and you may be unlucky enough to need to undo a cable or two. Maybe even fuel lines or whatever it is. Usually a gentle ease of the offending item is OK , if not just unclip and try again. The earth wires on the intake mani are quite short but a 10mm socket and bingo.

It's like Tetris mate, it trook me 5 mins to get the bolts off but about 30 mins to wrestle it out, you will not get it out from above, it must come out from below
