central locking not working after hazard fuse changed

Hi folks,

Little question for anyone.

My central locking was working perfect on my fob. One day I broke down (no fuel), so put hazzards lights on and locked up to get my walk on to the fuel station. I got back about an hour and a half later with some diesel. I noticed though that the hazards were no longer on or flashing and fob didn' work, but assumed it was just the bartery. But she started up just fine.

Anyway, hazards/indicators fixed, was a fuse under the steering wheel, but still my fob will not work, central locking works with my key or when I press my driver door lock button but not on the fob.

Changed fob battery just incase but didn't help, also tried recoding, starting by quickly turning key from off to acc within so many seconds, but the terrano does not blink two times or anythin. To go into code mode.

Sorry for lengthy post, any ideas?

Have you tried the pairing sequence again in case it's disassociated itself?

Thanks for reply. I tried that but the truck does not go intothe mode to do it. It used to, because . Rebuilt the fob a few months ago and had to do it key from off to acc 6Times in 10 seconds, hazards blink two times etc. But will not do it since I had to change the hazards fuse. Us really strange

If all else fails, disconnect battery overnight, and try again.

new issue noticed

i noticed today that my indicators eventually die for a while. first thing they work fine, then after a few miles driving doing usual turning and signals, they eventually slowly die on me till i have no signals at all.

you know they are about to die because they start ticking/blinking slower then normal, then blink with a few seconds gap between flashes, then totally dies on me, but work again for a while if you rest them for 10 mins or so before using them again.

I guess there is a relay to control them? would the control relay be the hazard switch near the radio, or is under the bonnet near the engine fuses?

Rayf is your man but for my two penorth I would say that the flasher unit is bad, but also could be one of the multitude of earth wires has corroded/got a bad connection, there are loads behind the dash as well as a few in the engine bay, Rick

It's no coincidence that both the central locking and the indicators are both playing up.
Both of these are administered by the the "Time Control Unit", this box of tricks also controls interior lighting, wipers and more.
As Rick has said it's more likely a bad/loose connection or ground that is the root cause.

The TCU is described on page EL-180, and there is a diagnostic mode detailed on page EL-182~, this could be helpful in establishing exactly what works and what does not.
