Hi all, since i have had my terrano the key fob has never worked and even though i tried getting a replacement i never did get it to work.
Anyway the other day i put my key in the door lock to unlock the car and the key got stuck and wouldnt come out or even turn....

So i started to look around at some options, i wanted something that would operate the central locking by remote control and came across this...
http://www.hawkcaralarm.com/UniversalUpgradeRemoteKeylessForCentralLock.aspx

so i bought one.
Nice little unit, doesnt look too complicated however looking at the wiring for the central locking actuator i need to suss out whether it is positive or negative polarity....i have to say i manage with electrics but by no means an expert....

can anyone help please?

surely there must be an electrical guy out there that can help...?

Have you tried reprogramming your original key? If you follow the process correctly it does work. The remote didn't work when I first got mine, but following the programming process it was fine.

Hi thanks for the reply.

Yes i tried and tried with no success...

Looks like you have a NATS 2 the normal programming for NATS 1 will not work, you will have to take it to a Nissan stealer or find a car locksmith with the computer and program to reset it I did mine and only cost £60 Nissan a lot more and external devices will not work as it is pre codded into the ECU, Rick

But surely the module i have bought simply needs to activate the central locking actuator to open and close?

Okay just a quick one....

Looking at the wiring diagrams for the door lock actuators i am a little confused by the colour coding...

It says PU/G (which i assume is purple and green combined)
And it also says GY/G (i have no idea what GY means)

Can anyone shed any light onto GY/G?

Cheers
Stephen

It turns out to be Grey and Yellow

It is now sorted and works a treat and i am well chuffed with it.

cheers for the help guys

Just been looking at their products. I like the remote start :sly

looks like I am getting past it and misreading posts, sorry, Rick

To be fair Rick it didnt work as explained in their instruction book....i ended up connecting to the switches in the door rather than the actuator.

well impressed, i have had thsi motor for nearly three years and the central locking has never worked so i am really chuffed

Watch out for the remote start, read in the paper a bloke squashed himself, left car in gear:doh:eek:

Was the terrano positive or negative connection? Was there a diagram of the terry for what wire is what in the loom?

Mine isn't a hawk.
