Actually there’s a temporary fix on the resistor but the problem is that the part that fails is suspected to be a thermal cut out so bridging it with solder and wire is possibly asking for trouble. I think I would happily trust that fix for a few days to see me through until a replacement arrives knowing I had to keep an eye on it. It was exactly a year since my last one went and I just happened to have a spare in the garage so was happy to get on with it half in the rain. Once you identify the part it’s actually easy. Can’t quite remember if it is a torq or cross head screws that hold resistor into the heater box.

If you struggle to identify it take a photo and post on here.

As for the bulbs, yes the panels have to be removed but you can replace the bulbs without having to move the control unit, just a bit fiddly but easier than disconnecting all the rods and cables.

Jim,

Thank you again for the sound advice, I will endeavour to effect a permanent fix, rather than a temporary solder job.

It is a pain, not having any cover to work under, I do miss having the barn......:doh

Given that I changed the pollen filter about 2 years or so ago, I imagine it could bear checking.

I will check, but I think there is a download for that job, as I don't have a clear memory of that job.......:nenau:doh

Oh yes, what a place absolutely brilliant. I checked out the filter replacement download, and reminded myself of the task.....:thumb2

I have ordered a new pollen filter anyway, no harm for the price. I think I may well remove the glove box anyway, to make better access to the resistor, and change the filter.

Excellent Jim.......:clap

You are not going to believe this. Got into the 3 litre truck today to take it out for a drive first time it has moved in a month due to my condition and I thought it was odd windscreen misting up amd sure enough blower only working on number 4 :doh

Anyhoo dug out my old one from last year and my soldering iron. Will do a temporary fix and replace tomorrow as I’ll be due another operation soon so doubt I’ll get chance to replace for a while. I’ll not be driving for at least 6 weeks after the op so the poor truck will be laid up.

And yes glove box removed will make life very easy.
