I manage to find things on this site easily too, using the search facility, but the first few times I tried... I gave up.:augie

Searching ebay is keeping the word count small enough to get hits, but big enough to limit the number of returns.

This site is all about helping each other, it didn't take long.:thumb2:thumb2

Thanks. I do find that the search feature on this site is a bit hit and miss. I have tried common words and get no results, but maybe that's just me :augie

Mine is usually, but some holes need attending to :augie deep water crossings and floor electrics don't mix
I guess I better pull my autumn finger out and get welding, AGAIN :doh

Haha I've seen them holes.Fred flintstone springs to mind.:D
Mine is under the seat.luckily the door seals have kept the water out so far:augie

Bah you need some holes for when you wade deep to keep weight on the wheels!

I found there was plenty space on the passenger side of the transmission tunnel :nenau

I've sat in the passenger seat and there's still bags of room and I'm not a wee lad! (6'2", 97kg :lol)

Trouble with my T2 is that the tunnel bulges outwards, different to your Patrol. I'll take a look... What model Midland have you got?

Wish I was only 97kg then that might be an option but at 116kg I would catch my overweight leg on that, also this is an area I find the patrol to feel cramped, on the trooper the transmission tunnel was smaller but I do find the Patrol transmission tunnel pushes against my leg. Also do not want screw holes showing after removal (if yours is screwed in).

Kind regards

Russell.

Velcro hooks grip really well to the carpet and roof. You could use that to hold it in place.

On my T2, I went for the remote Mic approach so the CB box is hidden up under the dash, and just the Mic is in show.

sent from my phone, sorry for any typo's.

It's a 78 Plus, no complaints about it so far :thumb2

Funnily enough I do find my left leg sits against the tunnel a bit when driving but there's a lot of space between legs and tunnel when sitting in the passenger seat :nenau

CB is screwed in but you only need one hole as you can use an existing screw. Wasn't really worried about any extra holes as I don't plan on getting rid of her and I've already got wires going through the firewall etc :augie

Well I'm pretty late on this one but two mods spring to mind, one would be to modify the overhead light unit (although with sunroof wiring could get tricky)

The other idea would be to finally make something useful of that crappy center console dash between the seats :thumb2

I like the centre console as it's handy for all the cr*p i've got:lol front part in the dash has my gauges & USB socket for the stereo, under hand brake is good for phones, keys & stereo remote:lol & the arm rest is good for storing other things but I do have a full arm rest in mine that can be used:D

Well new antenna fitted, nicely routed coax up to the dash top. In the end I decided to fit a DIN sized CB and the only place to fit it was on top of the dash. It don't look pretty and I always told myself that I would not put anything there and make holes in the dash, but as said it was the only choice. Just waiting for the CB to arrive - http://www.sigmaeurocomm.co.uk/TEAMRoadCom-FSInfoPage.html

Need to sort out power to the two plus rigs. Am thinking of a heavy twin cable direct from the battery, fused on both lines. Need to decide on what distribution box to fit inside. Any ideas on the amp of the battery and each rig fuse? Battery fuses have to be greater than the individual rigs in case both are being used at the same time.

That's the trouble with big old Din sized units. I'd have got a neat little Midland or similar and stuck it over the r/v mirror.
Hey ho , as Rustic said you can cover it . If you'd gone for a smaller one you could have modded a gauge pod off a Pajero or similar. Nice rounded edges and similar dash plastic finish.

Well pleased with the final result of fitting my CB. The main unit went under the passenger seat with an extension lead running under the centre console to the front side of the drivers seat into which I plug the mic, the mic can be quickly unplugged and as all wires out of site only thing left is the mic clip even that is adhesive so when removed just clean no holes. All controls and even speaker are in the mic so never need to go near the main unit and really clear to hear as speaker facing me.

Took a couple of pics though not much to see, so included a close up of that magic get me out of trouble switch as fitted to all Patrols the difflock.

Kind regards

Russell.

I can't see how you can stick it above the rv mirror  I've got an electric sunroof, with buttons etc there...
