Cortina you will have to put a couple of eggs in the radiator to get home going off my experience don't no why but rads on Cortina always seme to give up the ghost but I do like the Cortina :thumbs

I never had a Mk1, always fancied a 1500 Lotus, white with the green stripe. I've had Mk2's, 4's and 5's, but never the Mk3 as I didn't like the shape... :nenau

Urm well it'll need a full check over, back at honda we did this for a few bikes, it was an extensive mot, and if you like, present the car with no number plates so they mot it off the vin :thumbs

There is a doc u need from dvla too but it escapes me. I know u must get mot tho, also headlights might need adapting or replacing if they kick :thumbs

importing a vehicle

i am in the process of registering a french one the things you will need is genuine copies of all paper work log book old test etc

you have to declare it with hmrc for import duty but i declared mine as a self import and this ment i did not have to pay for import duty as it was under 10,000 in value you must declare it online and print of the receipt as dvla want proof of this if you do not get the original log book they will ask you to get a copy of comformity from ford i had to do this as i only had a copy of log book and nissan ripped me of 114.00 quid for it must have a mot when you apply for reg and have mph clock not kilometers and any lighting altered headlights and rear fog are most common dvla charge 55 quid for first registerstraion plus you have to tax it at them when you apply for registration sounds daunting but i do have a few new registration forms and info if you need any more info pm me hope fully i will have mine in the next couple of days will let you know if all paper work is in order usally takes between 7 to 14 days to sort out oh one more thing is it needs to be insured at time of application but this can only be done on chassis number until reg is issued i found adrian flux the cheapest for this :thumb2

RJL Services, many thanks ;) DVLA a re so up themselves it's nice to get real time experiences :D
Good luck with yours , it's early days for this one , fingers crossed it goes ok.

PM terranobreakershropshire, he's always shipping cars in and out of Africa :thumb2

have mph clock not kilometers and any lighting altered headlights and rear fog are most common

very good points that could easily have been forgotten about, there's a member on here actually (might have been Jonela) who was supposed to be making me a workshop download for this.

He'd ma manged to butcher some clocks from a Micra or something :nenau and fit them in his Terrano for this purpose

Yup many moons ago i had one.Wish i still had it now..

Had a Mk IV 2.3 Ghia auto on a '79 plate,lovely comfortable car,it stood unused for +2yrs,started 1st time,put it in D for @drunk@,oops sorry:D!My brothers mate had a Mk I Lotus,had it nicked,weeks later just got back a body shell.........bastards

We had a MK3 2000 GT in the 70's, a MK4 2.0 Ghia, a MK4 2.0 estate and MK5 16GL. All nice cars to drive in.

I had a lovely White MK5 2.0 Ghia Cortina. Put it in for a full valet before I sold it and I had a call to say enroute back to me it had broken down... I had to pick it up from a local Shell garage. When I got there I thought that it was a set up for Jeremy Beadle !!

Locking petrol cap had been broken off, engine bay completely drenched as was the electrics. Alloy wheels had been cleaned using a grinder and then painted grey! Inside had been cleaned using a pressure washer! All the wood effect panels were white! Carpets were soaked! It was a total write off. Apparently the operative had used a pressure washer inside another vehicle a week earlier...

Just got in from work and all this 'tina talk has got me horny :naughty
here's my project car under construction at the mo, it was a MK4 estte 4 door . It's been retro graded back to a MK3 and made into a 2 door :sly
