The final drive ratio data I have for the Terrano diesels is:
4.63:1 for the 2.7L
4.083:1 for the 3.0L

Is this for the c200 then mate and is it not different depending on transmission ?

Would like a link if poss cheers

i would think the ultimate test is pop the back wheels in some mud if both wheels drive then thats all any 4x4 driver will want . id be pissed if only one did

The diff type (c200/h233) will not matter as the front diff will be the same ratio!
For what it's worth, as far as I am aware there is no difference between the auto and manual final drive ratios either.

The info. is from some data I saved long time ago, don't know where it came from, but I believe it to be accurate. In any event if you do decide to check the ratio you have an idea of what to expect.

Ok mate cheers for that, and good point about the front axle.

I wonder if the h233 will fit and bolt in ?

If there is only 1 prop for manual terranos and if the abs sensors will fit either axle ... ?

Have a good root around this site, should be helpful.

should keep you busy for an hour or two.

EPIC, LINK IS EPIC :D

Cheers mate

Seems there is 4 axles, auto/manual makes no difference

37/8=4.625 Abs and a non abs

35/8=4.375 Abs and a non abs* *

So differing ratios are determined by ring gear not pinion, there fore drop off backplate and count teeth of ring gear (which is cool as u can't see pinion)

It seems 3.0 diesel are all different and in feb 04 they all changed again

So I need a 2001-2003 abs truck 2.7 diesel, count turns of prop but also drop backplate off and Count teeth on ring gear to match mine, and I have the baby :)

These are the most common c200 axles before feb '04

Winner lads, cheers for your help, now I can find my axle ratio anyhow.

I'm pretty sure an earlier h233 abs axle would bolt straight in, need to check further if abs sensors are same part number, hbrake cable looks the same... So this looks like an option too, would just need to know if it's a 4.375 or 4.625

And the part numbers for abs sensor and hb cable are same from mid 90's to '04, so correct ratio h233 axle will bolt in :thumbs

but remember a lsd doesn't work like a true locker, so one wheel still may spin even with a fully functional lsd.

Indeed the torque of the engine far outweighs what you can manage with a breaker bar on the hub/wheel etc

Checked today, was just under 4.5 turns of the prop to one full rev of back wheels, so that will be a 4.375:1 ratio :)

Will keep my eyes pealed for a cheap low mileage abs axle, no rush tho.
