I've seen various different ways of getting the bumpers back to their original colour but wanted your opinion on which one is best and longest lasting

As Maverick/Terrano owners I'm sure were all aware of how discoloured our bumper plastics go so which methods do you use?

I've seen so far;

Heat Gun - Quick and easy however doesn't last very long
Peanut Butter - Time Consuming but due to peanut oil being waterproof last a bit longer

and finally one I've stumbled across by myself by accident is Veg Oil!!!!

I was filling the tank and spilled a load of it and that part of the bumper has never discoloured since however it does look and feel very greasy, but maybe applying this sparingly all over the bumpers and wheel arches would have a nice effect too?

I want to do this as soon as possible because mine are literally white at the moment!!!!

I'll do some before and after pics when I do them btw :)

heatgun is the best method and wont leave people greasy if they happen to touch the bumper :lol

waste oil works but you have to rub it in well and dont put too much on rag. another is tyre paint thinned down with thinners and brushed very thin so no streaks

Bumper

That what i think i am going to do to mine paint it the same as colour as the Maverick {metallic red]

Yeah, I couldn't decide whether to go body colour, or flat/satin black. Plenty of time to think about it before the weather warms up. :)

So it was mild today and I had to get up early and go to work for a few hours so before I decided to set out to go the my girlfriends I decided to give the bumpers a go with the heatgun

What do you think?

Now that looks a lot better :clap , what did you do just heat it for a few seconds? or rub it with a rag as well?

Just heated it for a few seconds, it's awesome i was about 5cm away and just passed over the bumper and it was like spraying black paint onto it :thumbs

It's so satisfying :clap:clap

nice work, very nice indeed. what type of heat gun you using? what brand/power?

I have heard of people doing this, but it fades again.

Will be interesting to see if it lasts.

Well done.

Heat gun

I used a heat gun on my old Maverick, it's still in the village and I think they have faded slightly but nowhere near as bad as they were before. Just did my own Mav at the weekend, it was a huge improvement.
