Just out of interest, any idea what 360 BHP and 490 torques would do to a Patrol?

Hmmmm... :naughty

Quite a few upgrades from our friends in Saudi and surrounding areas. They have plenty of money, low fuel costs and no alcohol to spend money on.

They have the odd 6x6 too...:augie

or even this lol

Nice bud :thumbs

Just sold my 3.0 and replaced her with a 4.2 swb.

Loved my 3.0 though, drivetrain on them is very beefy so should handle an engine swap easy. I was contemplating an OM606 swap before I changed her :naughty

Well, I dont think I'm going to go mad, or do an engine swap! I'll have it tuned though, just erm .. well, just because!

A couple of guys on here have tuned their 3.0 trol engines, MrK is putting a skyline engine in his :naughty

Welcome to the forum... I look forward to seeing your build come along! :thumb2

An idea for the roof rack.

Look at Front Runner roof racks, thats what is on mine. (All be it a slightly narrower one taken off my old Land Rover!)

They have a whole bunch of accessories you can add to them.... Like say a Kayak holder and a water bladder! :naughty

I'm thinking light weight aluminium - it doesn't need to be strong as I think the heaviest thing that'll be going on the rack will be my kayak which doesn't weigh that much and possibly some dead fall branches picked up along the way for the camp fire... I don't like top heavy wagons..

I have now decided to just add Roof Bars. Much lighter weight, and the only thing I'll be putting up there will be the Kayak. Also it'll save money better spent on other bits and bobs like a chip tune!

These are probably some stupid questions... Doing wheel and tyre research at the moment and...

Do you need certain types of tyre for bead locker wheels? Is there a special name for them?

Also, what size tyres will I get on my patrol with a 2" lift, and a 4" lift?

Still not got the Patrol yet, picking it up on Tuesday hopefully..

Thanks for your time guys,
Brian :)

To my knowledge, you don't require special tyres for bead lock rims.

I went for a 2" lift on mine and that will allow 33" tyres with ease.

However... I went with wider width tyres (285's) and got rims with a Negative 35mm off set. So on full lock they'd catch! The mud flaps had to go, as did a slither of inner arch I had to cut away.

A little bit sticky outie...

Full Lock with the mud flaps gone. (Cut away little more after this pic)

That looks awesome, who needs mud flaps anyway! Wondering about the correct wheel thingys..

So whats your wheel and tyre sizes? something like 285/75/16 on 16x10 or something? The truck has 17" alloys, but most offroad tyres seem to be 16"?

Thanks again,
Brian :)

Bang on mate, exactly right. :thumb2

I double checked the offset too and it wasn't Neg 35....

285/75/16 on 16" x 10" (-32mm offset)

The 3.0 Patrol that I've recently sold was running on 285/75/16 on 16x8 0 offset rims with just a 2" lift - no rubbing at all although I had removed the mudflaps ages ago.

Those were Cooper Discoverer STTS and an 8" rim is the manufacturer recommendation for them.

My 4.2 shorty has BFG muds on, same size as the STTs on paper but measured up they're actually slightly smaller diameter.

I was never good at maths at school.. Does the 0 offset mean the same size as normal wheels?
