If! you can get a seal kit? then job sorted we would not have dream't of replacing a cylinder unless it was worn/damaged, Rick

ive got no idea wots wrong with it mate , all i know is the fitter said its leaking fluid , i suppose fitting a cylinder is easier than a seal kit :nenau ..... i dunno mate .... we will see i spose

its nissing out fluid at junction where the master cylinder meets the big black round thing ..... fitter said the master cylinder is leaking

it is a case of availability mate, if you cant get a kit you cannot fit it, to be honest you could have taken the cylinder of and sent it down to me and I could have sourced a rubber to fit I am sure, but there you go, years ago all parts places stocked hundreds of seal kits and many times we would need to cannibalize several kits to get one master cylinder sorted, I still have a few bits kicking around, Rick

if i had known then how long it would have taken to get this far mate , i would have sent it to you within a hour of it failing , but ... hindsight is a wonderfull thing .... at least this work isnt costing me and sheila any thing ..... shes delivered some leaflets for the garage , and instead of paying her , we have a sort of account with them ..... so thats one worry out of the way ..... trouble is we will have to deliver lots more because we are in the red so to speak with them ...... was the garage owners idea actually instead of paying us

been onto a firm local, reckon they can get seals but need to match them to the originals, part numbers do not work, so if you are still having problems locating post that cylinder to me first class tomorrow Thursday I should get it Friday and go from there, I do not think you will be able to get a kit as such they do not exist, Rick

If its seals your after and everything else is mechanically sound there are a lot of people around who carry large stocks of fluid seals for all conditions.

One that certainly used to as well as making them at sensible cost is these lot:

I worked for them for nearly a year and I have to say we were rarely beaten even for wierd profiles and sizes as the parts youre looking at are really from a very basic and relatively low pressure hydraulic system in the big scale of things, id be surprised if they couldn't help.

Thank for that Dave, I have used a local firm Kent Bearings in the past found them very good but have added your one to the list, Rick

Time to get a new garage IMHO.

My immediate assessment is that if they need to be getting leaflets delivered and are prepared to trade off bills to do so then they can't be much cop can they? You get what you pay for and TBH I can't see any of the garages in remote Welsh Wales being beaten by such a silly thing.

No offence intended but I've never seen such a lot of fannying about over such a basic issue.

It's a Yorkshire thing, innit. They're very grippy up there, haven't moved on from the barter system.LOL

H'mmm there is another view... longer they string you along the longer you are deliveruing leaflets.. washing the dishes.. painting the fence.. where does it end.

don't knock it, it's how the 'Karate Kid' got his big break! :augie

but i do see your point, making themselves look as if they are doing you a bigger favour than they actually are to get more in return. Thats the problem with the 'barter' system it is rarely a fair trade off :nenau
