brake issue

hi,my 2.7 tdi is a bit poorly. when i press the brakes every now and then the brake pedal feels like its jumping up and down and the brakes don`t work if i take my foot off then back on they work fine. i`ve been told it could be a faulty brake master cylinder or an abs sensor fault, a mate is bringing the tool round to check the abs but if it only happens now and then i`m guessing it will say all is well won`t it ? has anyone had similar probs ? also i`ve got a rusty sump thats leaking does anyone have a sump they would like to sell ?

hi keith, sounds like an abs fault to me. the fault code should be stored so your mate will be able to say what it is. sorry no sumps at the mo! james

Sounds like the abs is working properly

to change the sump you have to drop the front diff, are you sure it cannot be welded? Rick

Breaking whilst going over bumps or loose surface can provoke the ABS to kick in.
