I no what you mean about cracking joints rick 46 years of plastering :thumbs

Years ago I was a member of a self build scheme, all trades were available as members except plasterers, when I built my next house I knew why, it has to be the hardest trade in the game, and after a full week there is no way you are going to work also weekend doing the same job, feel for you, Rick

I think we make Rick an honourary member !!!!! :bow

And anyone who has owned their Maverick (or Terrano of course:augie) for ..
ohhh... let's say ... errr....19 or even 20 Years...:augie:augie:augie

:lol:lol:lol

Now I'm not sure there are too many members meeting that criteria...:bow:bow :augie

:lol:lol

Being Sunday I was a bit slow today, and as I wanted to slow the rust advance on the rear wing decided to get the sand blaster going, unfortunately I could not get the 7hp Briggs and Stratton going on the air compressor, so decided to fit a temp electric motor, all takes time so not done as much as would have liked on the car, anyhow this is a short while after blasting, it is amazing how quickly blasted metal shows rust stains, anyway painted it just after this pic taken

Clearly then, you can weld stainless to mild steel...:thumb2

Which gas do you use, and what wire? as you use different for S/S and M/S..:nenau

Best regards,
Rustic

using normal M/S wire and Argoshield Light, no problems with that at all, I do have S/S wire but not worth putting it on for M/S, Rick

Sorry all have just completed the off side today, but no time and forgot about pics, plus have run out of argon, and yet have the nearside to to plus front rad mounts, I have sourced some Co2 but have not used this for so long am not sure what the weld will be like, in the difficult conditions I am working it may not be good enough, lots of drafts blowing gas away, and am knackered, Rick

Well had a very long day, but managed to take some pics for you all, this is the outside of the seat belt mount

Plate over hole on chassis, it looks rough at the bottom but there was so much underseal around it which melted and dripped every where as well as catching light

and below that is this under the front bumper, I am hoping to just weld the top one and fit a temporary plate on the bottom as I do not see them as fail points as such but want to show that I am not having loose bits on the motror

Well done Rick, looks like you are saving one more Terrano from the parking bay in the sky. Wish I had your skill and confidence to repair the motors.
