hi all
only had the t2 for 3 weeks, been back to garage 4 times already,
water leak - loose jubilee clip
oil leak - loose oil filter
power steering fluid leak - new pipe
air con leak - new pipe
now got to go back again, bigger job this time, had this horrible clunking, grinding noise, especially going round corners, took it in and they couldn't find it,thought i was going mad,so i went round there and drove the mechanic around until it did it,wasn't going to let him out until it did it,he reckons LSD knackered, seriously thinking of asking for my money back,my part ex still on forecourt, might ask for it back.:lol

dunno if you would get it back, might be too late law-wise...hard to say. Certainly sounds liek they sold you a vehicle with more issues than it should have...good luck with it though mate, just dont let it start costing you more than its worth! Plenty out there...

Stef I've said it before, if its a trader/dealer you're ass is covered for six months for fault rectification. Check with Trading Standards. Might just be the oil is shot or even absent, the dealers rarely touch it, and you might find that an oil change fixes it...make sure they use the proper LSD oil though and not some generic crap they have hanging around in a barrel.

Let us know how it goes.

Sadly, having owned both, I reckon the pre-facelift truck is a lot more solidly built myself....but thats just my opinion (which means its true! LOL) :)

fortunatley at the moment they are not argueing about doing the work,
i think the bloke is a bit embaresed about it,i,ve had a couple of cars off them before with no problems, luckily the warranty they give is their own,own mechanic etc on site and there,s no thrashing out with a third party whats covered and what aint, and they give me a free courtesy car so i cant really grumble, oh what the hell, yes i can ,its just very annoying
i paid for the car with plastic so i was going to ask the credit card company about insurance cover, not fit for purpose, that sort of thing.

i had loads of trouble with my 1995 t2 and could not get my money back due to a rouge trader.
However I am glad I didn't take it back:)
I love it:thumbs
Got all the things sorted on it.... and it has got me out of a loads of wet fields and floods and snow:thumbs
If I had not had it last winter I would not have got to work I think it saved me my job.:)

All down to members here keeping me going and helping me understand the truck:thumbs:thumbs

And a laugh or two along the way:lol:lol

Good luck )

Good point willow, its actually relatively unusual for anything seriously fundamental and expensive to go wrong on these trucks....you might get the impression it is reading some of these posts, but I don't think it is....:)

There was oil spilling out of the engine ....undersealed it a treat:thumbs:lol
That was a loose oil filter
Just got the the gear box oil changed and now the gears work ....thanks for the help again:thumbs

Its a tough old bird ..
A bit like me:lol:lol

Piece of cake, one plug to empty one to fill, and they are clearly visible. But you must get the right oil...its this stuff:

You need 2.8 litres and its between £4 and £6/ltr...most motorists shops will order it in for you in a day or two.

Some sources suggest changing it again after a month, presumably to clear out any residual shite - it certainly can't hurt.
