As far as turbo/fuel compensation if there is less boost it should be less fuel nonetheless?

That is only partly true, if the min fuel has been set a bit high then it will smoke regardless, Rick

Yes get a nice straight road and floor it in third from 1000 revs till it red lines, slightly up hill would be better, and take a vid showing road speed, engine revs and boost pressure, Rick
