So today the boy and I at last started to revive my old faithful Black Pearl.:thumb2
Poor thing has sat around with only a few odd jobs done over the last year  been too busy playing in the Trol.
Any road up the bloody tin worm has been messin' about in there while I wasn't looking :doh
So a little fettling up front was easy enough and cleaned and sprayed up with Stone Chip grey

Unfortunately the back end was another story :augie what started out as a bit of a blister turned out to be waffer thin  So it's binned now

A bit of sheet on that tomorrow and bingo :thumbs
I'm doing it up properly so I can sell it knowing all is well and well hard again. Watch this space

Lots :sly
I'll be doing a full re-build check over and project completion on so many jobs :augie
I'll post a list of mods it's had tonight I think, it'll take a while :lol

Sheesh what a day :p The boy and me dual grinder action , welding and cutting and fabricating steel panels where once there was only tea bag like rusty nissan :lol
Eventually after more holes we got the metal work in and pretty much there till we ran out of wire :doh
Here's the new floor

Need to finish off in the wheel arch

Inside just about there

While the boy was working his magic with the tin I was trying to finish off the bigger intercooler install. Got the hoses trimmed to size etc
20130406_161312_zps39296433.jpg

Here's the modified intake side of things
20130406_161319_zpsb3fc0d66.jpg

Intercooler back in place on the hoses, pre brackets
20130406_161734_zpsda24faec.jpg

Roughed up some brackets with reasonably bendy metal, then got proper stuff bent up to match the trial run stuff
20130406_180446_zpsfe04a0ca.jpg

Got some fiddly front bracket action tomorrow and refit the hoses properly then maybe fire up the beast again :naughty

Busy today then, Whos been doing the welding?

Indeed :D My son "the boy" has been on the case today and yesterday :thumbs My welding is far too agricultural for this job :lol He has an expensive hobby of his own to maintain, so this is funding some of that for him

This project will be finished :sly

I wish I had more time to spend on the truck.

What thickness is the original steel floor?

What thickness did you use for the patches?

What thickness is steel plate available in?

What size does it come in?

How much for a sheet?

What make/model of welder was used?

Thanks for sharing the pictures, just shows what can be done, even if ready-made panels are not available.

Brian.

I So do I wish I had more time to spend on the truck.

What thickness is the original steel floor? About 1mm I guess

What thickness did you use for the patches? 1.2 and thicker

What thickness is steel plate available in? Loads but typically body repair in 0.8 we prefer 1.2 it's easier

What size does it come in? Off cuts from the black smiths or 1.2 x 2.4 m sheets upwards

How much for a sheet? A few quid for what I get

What make/model of welder was used? Ours is a Sealy power mig 180

Thanks for sharing the pictures, just shows what can be done, even if ready-made panels are not available.

Cheers buddy, it's nice working on the old girl again actually :D
