And mot status ?

I suppose you could remove the pump and re plumb the brake lines to master cyl. Put the abs pump plug in a rubber glove and cable tie it safely out the way. Unplug sensors and tuck looms out the way, then take the bulb out the dash panel ?

Not quite ! Was your car fitted with ABS as an optional extra? If so there's a possibility. I suspect however it was std fitted kit at that age of truck. So it'll then come down to the MOT inspectors knowledge of Terranos. If he knows it should have abs and it's "Absent" then it's a fail
Better way would be leave it in and then just unplug it after mot :sly

Don't think your insurance company would be happy. They may not pay up. DAVID.

Just thinking out loud guys, invoking discussion, I think pulling fuse is the best bet

also ask insurance about mods like snorkel, suspension lift etc

normal everyday insurance companies are very strict and wont even insure you with them.

Just pull the fuse if it's that simple to stop it working but I wouldn't take it out / off as IT WILL FAIL THE MOT FULL STOP.

"Erm, because abs sucks" Considering the legal implications and the fact that it can be of great assistance (on the road) that seems a strange comment, but each to their own I suppose.

i found abs to be very good on the road, and it was ok off road till it goes wrong as the sensors get shitted up . i bet if you really wanted you could put a switch on it:augie

Cadence braking is something I've practised and was taught aged 19 as a VW/AUDI technician. I prefer my own senses over a cars computer, they've not let me down in 15 years ... (touches wood)

Colin what are you like ? ABS is bad enough on the road but off  not for me ta. The ultra cool new systems are indeed rather good but on our era cars a glorified pump can get lost, I'm with stinka, cadence rocks :thumbs
Must practice more left footed though:rolleyes:

on the lwb auto i had it was ok on lanes etc, but then who'd take a lwb anywhere stooooopid , it was good on motorways too for heavy breaking.

on the new gaylander i had back on 06 apart from the comfy seats the abs was probably the best bit on the car. it stopped on a sixpence . but that never went off road either . kin thing got stuck on the garden ffs

Classic :lol
I guess I've been bashing about off road too much

I'm seriously considering this as my abs light is on so its stopped working. Its soo much better without, it was far to sensitive before and would kick in all the time

Getting rid of the sensors and stuff is straight forward, I can pipe out the pump and fk that off, only problem is getting rid of the bloody bulb in the dash ...

Anyone had one open before ? Can u get to the bulbs ?

the abs on my 03 is so bad compared to my ex 54 plate vectra, its like it is in a different time scale! the mrs merriva has no abs and stops so easily, its all about operator usage. i will turn mine off if you find a cure stinka let me know. tar:D
