Why have my shock absorbers bent AGAIN? What could it be ? :nenau
Photo195.jpg

Fitted my new ones today and they're about 30mm longer than my old ones I had off Terranus too :thumbs So I can now get a bit more droop :D Shutup Luvgluv :p
Also had to do top ball joints again and the top arm bushes have gone again too:eek:
Seems that 33s will defo kill your suspension bits if you do the miles like me, OR is just that todays parts are crap :(

Its the TDi model buddy & your right foot :augie

Mine does 25000 plus a year & plenty of abuse & I've done nothing to my steering.....

Yeh I knows, what's going on there then? I do 12,000 plus in mine and have done at least 4 sets of ball joints now :doh
Sussed the steering now but that's the same as yours:nenau
Wierd results for two different marques and the same wheels/tyres

big wheel, high milage..

crap parts

The only thing I've added / modded was the steering idler brace from you but my steerings bang on :nenau

I get camber on cornering but its all straight :nenau

Theres got to be something different even if its only by a gnats cock

Mines all clean & serviced ( with no gearbox  :( ) & on me mates ramp ( for its 5th week ) & I've checked it all over & its bang on :D

Nice, rub it in then...............................swine:p

But at least yours is on the road :lol

Not knocking you

But

Try "green driving" as in calm & economical, not going over 3000 revs on road & off road, rather than keep on trying even if you know you can do it, give in & see if that stops the bending

Be more cautious :thumbs

You've seen me at the last Pay'n'Play :augie starts to bounce or spin then i don't bother :thumbs

I do do eco green driving, I use bio :lol
"Cautious", well I do walk the route now, usually, well sometimes, look I have walked a couple of times
Going to get bigger balls :D
That'll fix it :naughty

think I will stick with 30s for now ;)

Winch bumper and winch next. Atleast I can drag myself out undignified. :lol

Where did you get your bumper from pete, I don't think I can wait.

You can have it after the weekend if you're in need :D

you got mk3 on the way?

Could do with it, My bumper has been bashed a few times since. Its a bit more loose since nant-y-moch.

Yep but usual time constraints means I haven't been up to get it sorted. No worries though, you can have it after the weekend:thumbs

Barstard shocks bent again FFS :doh
Why, what's going on here? Anyone really any idea?:nenau
Also, should shock absorbers always have positive push/pressure on them? I mean the ones I've had before had to be tied closed before fitting, then released into position. These ones I got off Trex dont push themselves out at all , they just sit where they're put :augie more like a steering damper

Do you have any bump stops fitted, might be worth fitting heavy duty ones ?

It could just be a case of getting what you pay for mixed with the extra stress caused by the 33s. Look how often Colins truck was getting shagged on 35s.

One or two of the US sites seem to recommend Tini shocks, whatever they are, as they have properly hardened steel shafts....not suggesting the procomp doesn't but then Adz has also got a point....normal offroading requires a bit of skill and dexterity and softly-softly much of the time, whereas you are sometimes given to, shall we say, errr.., a bit more of an aggressive approach LOL.

Not taking the mick, I'm being serious....you could easily drive the way you do in a light spaceframe rail for example, but with a couple of tons of Terrano to drag around I think you just can't be bashing away at everything....?

Just my halfpence worth :)

well apart from being stooooopid wiv da gaz pedal , and you are lol

the only thing you have that no one else has done and no one else suffers bent dampers . is those things you got off bluebull. maybe thats thrown everything off the right angles.
i do remember when i looked into finding some they were actually part of a proper kit, so without the rest of the kit that is what i think your problem is .

Hmmmm, you "may" have a point there :augie The calmini top arms I've got are meant to be stand alone items to correct camber etc caused by the 2" lift.
I'll ring them on Monday and do a Luvgluv , you know, winge on like an old fart:lol
PS nawt wrong with the fun pedal though :naughty
