** home safe ** 30th December

Just got home.. after carefully removing my boots that are no longer red... all that glorious mud!!

Had a great day.. normally home first but finished today off with a few night lanes...

Was nice to meet new faces and but faces to the names from online.

Thor - had the disc.. missed you at start point but will post - see PM

The guys we had behind us were great.. nice to see such big smiles (sorry Frankie didn't like it) Will upload pictures to Photobucket and make a video with suitable soundtrack when get chance.. shattered.. and Nigel for the gate closing, Gordon for the chocolates.

and not forgetting Dinky & JJ with the hot dogs - YUMMY!!

**Gates** I stop noticing them.. more than not in lead or bringing the rear of a group up so ALWAYS open and close them..

i've just got back in, (i didnt get lost on the way back to Nottingham, came in and went right back out again, and just got back in again!) - very long day!

Thanks to everyone for a really fantastic day, we were bringing up the tail so didnt get to see many people, but massive thanks to Ian Douglas and Sheila for brilliant support and advice on the way round, got some great photos - the patrol is filthy, sure sign of a good day!

Mav was with us so i witnessed the dirtying of the Terrano, his face was a picture, but i have to say he (like myself and my mate Pete) didnt stop smiling all day, even when it was bouncing through muddy puddles and over rocks!

Thanks to Cameraman for the route and planning, im sure its no mean feat to plan something of that magnitude, so thanks for the time / effort which made it such a great day.....

Also, last but not least - hello to everyone i met - who's names ill forget by the end of this sentence (im not the best with names! but no doubt ill speak to you / see you / PM you at some point on here anyway!

Im definitely going to do that again!

again, huge thanks to all involved, and speak soon

Glad you all enjoyed it, and as you say its nice to put faces to names and meet old friends and make new.

I actually enjoy the planning and putting these days together, its a good brain exercise for me.

Hopefully now you've all had a littlre taster of what a day can be like you'll want more. Next time we'll put in a few more difficult lanes to keep you on your toes.

If at the start of each lane you feel a little apprehension and then at the end of each lane a little satisfaction then thats the way it should be.

I think most of you where pleased if not a little surprised at what you can actually do in a 4x4 and I hope you now have the confidence to progress.

As is becoming the norm now, we finished the day with an evenings drive in total darkness taking in some of the more difficult lanes and one severe one. The two SWB TIIs following me of 4x4xford/Ladyinred and Iandouglas made short work of even the severe section, so maybe on another occasion we could consider this for a more experianced group?

I'll upload some pictures later as i did manage to fire off a few between gates, navigating and driving etc.

I'd also like to thank the leaders of each group for doing a sterling job, for without you i could not possibly run a days outing.

beginners day

Just to a BIG thanks to all involved today both on the lanes and those who must have put so much into the organising. Specially to Lucy, Nick for their advice and encouragement throughout the day, to Gordon and the boys for their 'gesticular' support !
What a Great day totally surprised at what Maev is capable of ( once she shed the running boards!!!& thanks to Nick for retreiving them !) got some great photos which I will post soon.
We cant wait to see the videos.
Had an absolute ball consider us hooked & look forward to MORE !
All the best Geoff, Franki & Nigel

A "severe one"? Stanage in the dark?

We did Roych Clough downhill on the way back home. It's definitely harder downhill than uphill - I managed to give the towbar a tidy whack on one step, but no harm done.

Cheers
Andrew

I have done Stanage in the dark, but on this occasion we started with going up Pindale including the deviations, a few more then from Beet Farm up the steps onto Roych clough also a couple of others that are not so easy in the dark.
