Usually I'd agree with you but there is a little more to this than my kirt response earlier.
When I first started 4x4 I knew very little. Then I got the bug and happened across a Maverick. Found this site for help. Then there was a period of the old guard getting the hump as a few of us Welsh types upset the status quo a bit.
Lots of "you can't do that" , and why this n that, bla bla
Anyway I tried many things , some worked , some didn't, but bit by bit with help from here I got things moving.
Then it got bigger I had to invent stuff and on it went.
Then I found the Patrol , phwoar :naughty
Black pearl got laid up.
Then the boy got into his mechanics apprenticeship . So I very charitably set him about welding up the black truck to hone his skills.
Some years later we decided we might as well finish it off properly on the original route I was on 5 years back.
By this time the boy and I were feeding off each others skills and ideas.
Now we're doing projects on it because we can :D Plus it looks good in his portfolio
That's why :splif

Ah I understand now and full respect to you and your lad, he could not have had a better start, keep it up, Rick

Got a bit more done today before the storm hit the beach
I had to fabricate some bracket/spacer things to secure my skid plate.
Here's the one that now fits on the torsion bar adjuster cross member

So here is the final bit of the underside done :clap

Next is one of those jobs that's always been at the bottom of the list and never done
I had some 32mm pipe to use in my rock sliders so the high lift can be used more safely.

Close up weld porn anyone ? :naughty

Now we're onto the fuel tank :D
First stage is to weld up the bits I had folded . Staggered zips to avoid warping.

First trim of the end before the sides go on.

Didn't get much more done today, what with boat rescues and a BBQ tonight.
Tomorrow we're going to fire up the old girl and go for a razzle.:sly
Onwards

You're on a different level babe :thumbs totally nuts :lol

I blame this site! so many outstanding truck projects, inspirations and knowledge to be had. even though we all have different views, opinions and tastes. Its works.

I just wanted to fix my truck.....4 years later (on & off) i'm still fixing it :lol

I know the feeling but fair play your build is bonkers :clap
Think I'm 5 years in at least :doh

MMMMMore fuel tank done today :thumb2

Trial fit , quick view from my sexy rear end :sly

While that's going on I'm sorting the rear winch so it's all done before the tank gets in the way.
I'm fitting a couple of draft excluders to limit water ingress and it'll clean the rope at the same time

Looks a bit like this on the inside

and this on the outside

Then I've fitted the fairlead over the whole lot with a spacer to get this

Still working on the outer fairlead position but you can see here through the cross member to the inner fairlead :D

and here is the winch now fitted in position ready for wiring next :thumbs

Also cleaned up the tube ends on the rock sliders :naughty

Started up the old thing today too, just went for a quick spin to settle the suspension :naughty
Exciting

Quality Pete:clap
I'm all excited so can't imagine how you feel. :thumb2

Got the last fairlead fitted tonight .

Also went round just one more time underneath snagging any thin bits of underseal.
Unfortunately I forgot I have a dodgy injector somewhere :doh
So just another job to do
Onwards
