So my truck has developed a new noise!!!

This one seems to be coming from behind the speedo, it occurs between 35-60mph and as the speed increases so does the speed of the noise

The only way I can describe the sound is like when you hear a plastic bag caught in a tree branch and it's really windy and it starts flapping around.

It does disappear momentarily if you slam the top of the dash board but then come back again.

I'm thinking Speedo Cable?? As the sound increases speed as the car does ???

I'm planning on removing the clocks in the week anyway as my lack of a bulb for my clock is doing my head in!!!!

Any ideas guys?

And for anyone who is following my other thread about the noise from underneath the car I think I've figured it out and it's the tow bar however I need to carry out some more tests before I can confirm that

just keep hitting the dash:lol:lol

if the speedo drive isnt well lubricated, this can occur, it happened with my swb terrano only it squeaked and squeaked............and squeaked:banghead

has to be cable or speedo itself as they are the only moving bit in the dash, Rick

Perfect, so now I know what it is, which bit should I be lubricating and how easily accessible is it?

Basically there's a prong that comes out the drive cable, it inserts into the back of the Speedo, you'll need to get some 3in1 oil around this prong and around the hole in the Speedo cluster, the prong is the bit that spins round fast, quite hard to explain, but you'll know what I mean when you take the cluster out:D

Your a gent :D, I'll have a crack tomorrow after work when I replace the bulb, on which subject, what bulb do I need for the Clock going off subject here a little bit

Mine has the same noise. Only first thing in the morning and stops after a few minutes.

Always though it was something in the heater fan

Basically, the bulbs are small wedge bulbs, if I was you, I'd use an led as the amount of usr the bulbs get, they'll just blow again, also, if you want to know how to remove the dash, I've done a ramble vid on u tube. :thumb2

Think I've got A spare blue LED if u want it

Lucas bulb from Halfords LLB286 12V 1.2W capless fitted my clock

That's exactly what I got and went for a Green one :)

I've also oiled the speedo cable and the noise has vanished, and who knew that if you drive with your clocks unattached your mileage doesn't increase :sly:sly
