It's official!!! Grandad Banshee has a new vehicle :thumb2

I've managed to find him a 2004 SVE SWB in the 3.0 DI variety, I feel like I've robbed the guy I brought it from but I'm still dreading finding a really bad problem with it as it's very much the honeymoon stage still.

I've found a couple of little niggles so far that I'm going to sort out before I hand it over to my grandad

  • Spare Key needs a battery and possible re-pairing
  • Need to replace x1 odometer bulb
  • Need to replace x1 rear fog light bulb
  • Stereo display intermittent - sometimes illegible, sometimes perfect (maybe a download)
  • A weird one - Strange rattle from passengers side only when heater is on and turning right around corners :nenau
  • Loose sidesteps need looking at
  • Whine from transfer lever under acceleration similar to what I experienced when I brought my Terrano so I'll be starting there

Apart from the above it drives beautifully and goes like stink :sly I think I need a 3 litre :naughty

There won't be as many updates in this thread as in mine as Grandad won't be modifying his at all :lol

Here's some pictures

That's boss!
(That is what you say in your part of the world, isn't it?). :)

Nice truck!

Mmmmmmmmm, 3.0ltr.....

... a man's truck!

One day my son, when you're old enough, and you're a good boy, you to can have a 3.0ltr.

Are the sidesteps loose or is there rot in the brackets? I had that on my 2.7.

:nenau

May we ask mileage and price?

They seem to be loose step side rather than the brackets, I need to get underneath and check what's at play

84,000 miles and paid £2200 :naughty

Can't wait to start on the niggles but on the whole it's solid little truck

Now can you find one just like that for me.

Been looking on auto trader for a laugh today. Theres a lwb in silver being sold by a garage in Birmingham. Checked the mot history and it's dodgier than the chap in Goole. Mileage goes up and down over several years and advisories ringing alarm belows about tin worm. Scary that there are trucks like that out there for sale.

Thanks for all the comments guys!!! :thumbs

F*** me!

Mine gets a bit of moss round the windows if I don't wash it often enough, but that's got a flippin' tree growing on it!

:lol

Good looking truck Zac :thumb2 :thumb2

You've done Grandad proud

Even comes with it's own camouflage :lol :lol

Nice truck, pleased you got there in the end. Grandad will be very happy with his Christmas present. Now we just need snow.

Sounds like the captive nuts in the ally (shite idea) have become loose. Not sure what can be done with them. They need nut and bolting right through:nenau

They have to be repaired as unlike me, my Grandad doesn't think they are gay and my Nan will rely on them to get in and out of the truck.

I'll get underneath and get them looked at and repaired over Xmas, I need to leave it alone though for now as I need to get my truck back on the road

I use coach bolts think if I remember drill from underneath when you've got rid of old bolts and then use coach bolts so that they are nice and flat on the top.
Don't forget to cut off the excess thread other wise you'll be forever scraping yourself when crawling under the truck.

Nice moter there zac!

So is grandad coming on here to see what you get up to??
