How can the Mistral be ok then, or will all door mounted plate 4x4s now be £30 tokens for plod ?
There's always summat:doh
Cos the good old Mintral was designed like that by nissan, as are other 4x4's when they come over here from Japan they have to go through a SVA test (all inports have to) they now have to be as close as poss to standard to get on the road, ours was not made that way so..
By rights we have to tell our insurance that we have moved it (which we have done) so to keep cover.

Bugger, seemed like a good idea yesterday:eek:
Now that you mention insurance I guess I better give them a ring again. See if they'll still insure me:augie

Hello Makeitfit,

another tidy piece of work Bud. :thumbs As you say, the Mistral rear number plate holders are like hens teeth ! Just one question Bud, where do you find the time to get all of these jobs done ? :bow

Paul,

liking the story you told the insurance tea leaves Mate ! :lol

Lee.

No time , thats the trouble:eek:
Do them one at a time so manage one or two a weekend. Number plate was mainly door card off and wire to fiddle through. 1 hour tops:thumbs

just take the spare off problem solved

get tyres filled with gel

that way you only need the spare in the boot when off road

Zippy all you need is a bit of wire to piggy back on to your tail light. Left hand side is easy as thats where the loom is. Then poke the wire through the gland on the door, simples:thumbs
Pick up your earth off the wiper, job done:D

like all the things i want to do no cash to get the lights, but will work on it.

Mistral has the spare wheel mount further over to the left than the Terrano/Mav.

Zippy do you not have scrap yards in that there England?:augie
Pop down and have a quick look around the vans, find what you like, especilly if you think it'll fit, then er er liberate it,or get a pound out:sly :augie"baggy trousers" madness:augie

Ah ha, well I'm stuck with it now, so will have to hope for the best. Cheers for the advice:thumbs
I've still got the original lights in place so could fit the old one back if plod gets excited over it:doh

What get my hands drity!!!??

we got a couple in town, will one day go look i guess.

Mine seems fine with the Mistral holder, though I did mount it as far right as possible, number plate is perfectly visible.

Far more of an issue is the fact that the digits aren't technically the right size. They're fine on an import but UK spec vehicles have to have proper UK spec digits.

What size should they be as I ordered the plates off tinternet:augie
Ta

Dunno - ottomh, but not import size which is what goes on the Mistral plate. You'd be really unlucky to get stopped for it provided they are corrctly spaced etc.

terra , didn't you put a link up recently to the rules of number plates and viewing angles etc.....
something about visible from every corner of a box marked out on the floor

Warning! Adult 18! No light weights!

Cheers for that Trex.
AS LUCK WOULD HAVE IT
I got pulled by Brown's tax collectors in blue again today:eek:
Happy to say the no. plate drew no comments, but my winch bumper did:nenau
He said he'd seen me around so stopped me for a routine check, ballaux:eek:
Cheeky twat described it as having "ragged edges". I was not best pleased and got out . Right then ocifer show me. I said there was no such thing on it and demanded he explain himself. "Calm down sir,I'll make that decision", he then told me it looked "loose",bloody twonk.
So I jumped up on it and asked again to explain himself."Ah it seems alright now sir"
I suggested this was harassment, only in not so many words:augie
Meanwhile his bum chum is poking about the truck too and says there's a dangerous part here! He showed me a rust hole the size of a 10p on the front wing in the usual place above the wheel arch. I'll fix that says I, and promptly applied some black gaffa tape. Happy now ?
Alright sonny lets start again says plod?
So after another 5 mins of document checks I was allowed on my way:nenau
Well cheers guys what a treat meeting you, boosted my respect for plod no end:wasntme

pete i got to say you seem to be getting pulled over quite a lot.
do you think its harassment or maybe your doing something to attract attention

when i decided i wanted to do mine up a bit , the plan was to do it in such a way as to not attract attention. you know nothing too in your face !
looking at it now, i think i failed miserably

i dont know what the answer is
maybe its dirty
damaged
driving fast everywhere
maybe your card is marked cos your kicking up a stink about them taking it off you the first time

but its got to be something, i only got pulled for lights not working but i was polite to them and fixed it

what ever it is it needs sorting before you get points or they take it again. but its worth pointing out ... you wont beat them

years ago, id be stopped ever week, extremes see the pic of the car.. yellow and black, i didn't think it was that ugly ( :augie )

but it was London in the mid to late 80's

was also the same few coppers too.
