Anyone got these hubs, do you experience ratcheting noise? my new ones are very noisy and on an open diff, what is going to happen with my Lokka? bit concerned at the mo, will pull them off asap and have a look see but really do not think they should be making any noise at all, Rick

I had them on my old terrano, fitted about 12 years ago. The instructions were poor from what I remember. Once fitted got a clicking noise so removed them again and had to remove another original washer or spacer from the original hub but I can’t remember all the details. Once sorted the hubs gave 10 years faultless service.

That doesn't sound good Rick!!!!

I know Rob had a set on his Y61 until one rolled off down the hill after his mechanics hadn't tightened it all back up right :doh

still in a hedge bottom somewhere in Yorkshire:lol:lol:lol:lol

I've got the AVM hubs and there is no noise, so something sounds wrong to me.

Hi Rick, what's the resistance like when you lock them in or free them up?
Does each side feel the same?:nenau

I'd love to go back and find that randomly placed on a wall by a dog walker rusted to hell!!!

Some farmer might have used it as gate lock mechanism:thumbs
We've seen some weird and wonderful ones while out on our travels.

Both feel the same but I think surprisingly low resistance when turning them on? Rick

Shouldn't be very hard to turn, but definitely shouldn't be noisy at all, sounds like they aren't locking/unlocking properly

All now discovered, while driving today with the hubs "free" I had clicking now and again, then when parking going from lock to lock the steering made bad noises and part locked up, so abandoned work and came straight home to investigate, jacked it up and went from lock to lock and definitely not right, sounded more on the near side so locked the hub put the wheel on lock and tried to turn it, no go looks like the CVJ has broken up big time so off the road for now, will use the Mrs motor tomorrow as important job to do, but after that will be stripping the whole thing out to refurb the front axle complete including the Lokka, Rick

Keep us all up to speed on how this work goes please Rick.
I've got to say I really like your priorities too.
....issues with Patrol. Work abandoned.:thumb2

Well without a vehicle I cannot work so the motor takes priority, simples Rick

Well stripped it all down today and this is the state of the NS CVJ, no wonder the steering was affected

Pic of the swivel ball, now I have to say that I give Nissan 0 points for design on this one, the ball seal which is just a dust seal really is going to let water into the CVJ enclosure, they know this cos in the book it says after wading remove a bottom bolt to drain the water out, but there is no boot over the CVJ which I must say I expected to see, so water enters and mixes with the grease forming an emulsified mess, what a recipe for failure

I will try and take regular pics of the rebuild, also removed the front diff today but I will start a new thread for that, Rick
