I've sold the auto box that I stripped off the breaker I had recently.

Box was perfect when it was removed but the bloke that purchased it tried to re-fit it and is having problems getting the pump working on it now?

I've asked for some more specifics from him but as I've never re-fitted an auto box to a Terrano I have no idea what the procedure is for re-fit?

Has anyone here swapped an auto box before? Any advice would be greatly appreciated :thumb2

More info to follow.........

Solarman did one on Briggies but it was years ago now mate.

He’s not trying it on with you is he?

The only rule on fitting an Auto box is fit the fluid flywheel to the box put the box back and fit the 4 drive plate bolts, any other way is a disaster, Rick

Was sold as seen, no returns but you know me, I wouldn't sell it unless I knew there was deffo no comebacks with it, I even went to the effort of driving it around the estate and recording it for the purpose of having supporting evidence to easier sell the engine and gearbox :thumb2

He is using his own Torque Converter and I can't vouch for the condition of that :nenau

You proved your box was fine, why did he use his TC? Rick

Think that could of been a mistake zac, I would of paired TC with box, and what you going to do with a TC on its own? Rick

If his Torque Converter is faulty maybe that why he put another gearbox in it.

If his Torque Converter is faulty maybe that why he put another gearbox in it not realising the fault was in the torque convertor.

I did not think that an automatic gearbox has a replaceable pump as does an engine as such except some of the older gearboxes have an auxiliary pump so you can tow start the vehicle but that might be a second pump?

Have to say I am not well up on Autos but when I stripped Briggies box after removal I do not remember a pump of any sort, I think oil pressure comes from the TC, so Ted you are probably right, Rick

The pump is built into the torque converter as far as I'm aware.
It's a mechanical unit that spins at the same rpm as the engine.

Is it this that pumps the oil through the cooler?
