Auto with no reverse gear???????????

Hi all Iv just bought a t2 1999 auto but it wont select reverse but all other gears are ok. Iv noticed that wen i press the brake the left indicator lights up (permanent not flashing) could this indicate a wiring problem?
Can i engage the reverse solenoid by powering up a wire in the loom as we can do it this way eith our auto dumpers at work? Doing this would see if the box is ok.

Iv discovered These box's are completely different to ours at work. these have a cable which drives a selector on the side of the box. Im going to drop the sump sat morn and have a look inside.

did you ever sort the problem? my reverse gear went awol today - suspect oil level, perhaps.
