hi all its been awhile, auto hub problem, my mavrick will only go into 2 wheel drive i down loaded the hub cleaning and greaseing workshop, anyway the right one is fine when i took the left side off two pieces fell out snapped off , looking at the pictures they must be the bits of the inner spring locker, and the spring fell out aswell, are they a easy fix, just thinking which way to go with this, has anyone got spare pair sat doin nothing, also are these hubs right and left handed cheers paul

a few people here get this fixing / service bits from Nissan / Ford but then change to manual hubs later, milners do the manual hubs, but you might find a member with ONE working auto for sale if you ask. to keep them both auto.

zippy

hi zippy thanks mate

my experience is, once they start acting up bin them and get some manulas, the set of rings and springs you refer to are available from nissan and ford (ford is quicker and cheaper) but you may just be throwing your money away!

I found this the hard way as have other members manuals are not much more exspensive than a set of new rings and in the end are a fit and forget job and you know you will allways have 4x4 when you need it!

i was thinking as some members have changed theres, so ther might be the side he want sitting in a shed some place. ....

i find the auto's quite good not broken a set yet! and ive tried

sounds like you just need some new rings.

i get mine from the breakers they do me just fine

just make sure you keep them as a pair when you get them from the breakers

i did have 2 sets! but threw one away and the other went to someone who was taking manuals of to keep when he sold his old mistral, i think once people take them off they dont go back!

Usualy when they are taken off it is for a reason! you may be just getting some one elses trouble!

By all means try it if one comes up but dont waste any cash on it!

by the eway there are two sets of part rings with 2 different part numbers the change over being around 'n' reg (regardless of headlight shape) so be sure you are getting the right ones, I did post the numbers on here some where but have no idea where they are now

I dont know if the whole hub is slightly different, so be aware you could end up with an odd pair! again im not sure if it would make any difference but it is something to bear in mind!

thats a good point, from the breakers they havent been taken off because they were faulty, and if you can keep your auto's going then it does beat getting out in the rain, mud, etc. and many members seem to get along with them fine, Also the scrappy hubs will come with snap rings, springs etc. intact and wont cost as much as new rings alone if they dont work.

I'm sure i have a new pair of hub springs (just the springs) some where still in the Nissan bags, if anyone wants them PM me and they can have them providing i can find them of course!

It's got to be a good advert for auto hubs if extreme cant break them now he's running on 35s:sly
We all gave the trucks a good shack down on Sunday no probs:D
Except one of mine again. Did a big drop in and a silly steep bit in 2 wheel drive again:doh
Got some spare ones but left them safely in the garage looking after the swallows:lol
Ah well spanners at dawn again.:eek:but autos for me:thumbs
