Good deal well done. Don't know what sniper you've got but thats the first one I've heard with a restriction like that. But then I get mine from dodgy sources :thumbs

simple you rookie you.....putting any bid up shows interest and encourages others to do the same. The less bids the better.:augie

I've used several but the latest is auction auto bidder - think its the pro version, obtained from a ... ahem ....download site :augie

wonder what happens if youve got three people all with snipers, watching an item!

depends on who's got the highest max bid and the timing I think.....with only three seonds to spare in many cases there often won't be time for the sniper to whack in another higher bid if it comes up against a competitive one....

some very fast bidding! :lol I once sold a caravan and the price doubled from £1700 to £3400 and some odd in the last minute :thumb2

I'm not sure how much sniping helps, if you are willing to pay a given price then, whether you put it on via ebay or a sniper site the outcome is the same, just all the action is at the last minute. Maybe in the early days it did, but if everyone is doing it .... :nenau

That was my question also, but I guess the highest bidder? but do not quite know how that works, Rick

I think part of it is that these things are sticking bids on from a remote location that probably has a much faster connection to ebay servers so a lot of it happens faster than Daved can shut his wallet. Sounds impossible I know...:lol:lol

so if someones got a high bid left on an item, snipers connection software etc faster than ebays, stopping there bid to go in,cool!

" i reserve the right to end the auction at anytime due to the item (s) being advertised elsewhere " .... kinda destroys the sniper idea though

i dont even put that just a phone number and contact me for better deal or to combine shipping and bang its gone cash in hand luvely jubly!

not quite, if its an ebay high bid then the ebay server will bang it on regardless (it was logged when the bidder made it spo ebay knows what it is, even though ebay only publicises the highest bid necessary to take the lead during the auction if you see what I mean), just means the sniper bid then has to exceed it.

But if your max sniper bid is higher than any existing maximum bids and any other sniper bids, then the fact that you can set it to bid at only one second before the auction ends, kind of fecks up anyones attempt to rebid...:augie

i agree, as if they aren't having any interest in the auction, it is more likely to be sold elsewhere

thats what i meant, with 1 sec to go will ebays thing outbid the sniper? bit cheeky if it does! i like to think of ebay as a marketing tool!

That phrase is technically not acceptable. Basic law of contract which includes auctions, says that all thats required is an offer to sell and acceptance.....one bid is enough. Dickheads like that should use reserve pricing.

Its just that eBay doesn't enforce things properly. Same old shite as people who write things like "not my responsibility to make a claim if item is lost but I'll send you the posting receipt". F*ck off you f*ckwit! I report every one I see and they get pulled LOL.

The shop pricing argument is a bit different....incorrectly priced items don't have to be sold at that price because they are deemed to be an 'offer to treat' ....which indicates a parties willingness to sell, as opposed to an actual offer to sell. But given that the fines for incorrect pricing are very significant indeed, its always worth having the discussion :thumb2

but you don't put a bid on - you leave it to the last split second via a sniper :augie

if the ebay bid is higher then yes of course it will win, but if the sniper bid is higher than a nornal ebay maximum bid then yes, it wins every time.

All sniping does is let you put a maximum bid on, but it doesn't lodge it with ebay until the very last second when its too late for anyone else to up their lower bids....so it also stops last minute gazumping.

but the argument between snipers is a bit more complex and flaky I suspect.
