I'd like to fit some AT tyres in place of the HT ones currently fitted to my T2. This is to give a bit more chunky look as well as more grip in marginal situations. The T2 is used as an everyday vehicle on mostly tarmac but with some open field towing.

From experience, what do you guys use or recommend as there seems to be many brands out there and its a lot of money to get wrong. :bow

Hey bud, I'm running General Grabber AT's, pretty happy with them :thumb2

Tread pattern looks a bit unconventional but they are chunky and seem to do the business - haven't let me down yet on mud, sand, rocks or snow!(touch wood)

I used bridgestone duellers on both of my mistrals ...... good a/t tyre and lasts a long time ...... more road based than off road , but very quiet on the road .

BFG's A/T KO 265/75/16 if you wanting chunky and they do 50k if you buy new

Standard: 235/70/16

235/85/16 'should' fit. But I am yet to try. Plenty of them about on eBay off landies

I have BF Goodrich AT.Great on gravel/ steep hills. No good in deep mud.In snow you will need to make use of 4x4.Due to the tread pattern they don't clear the snow,as a road tyre would. Good road manners/very little noise, and will last a good while, also chunky looking.

I put a set of five of these on mine about 9,000 miles ago and they have been every bit as good as (if not marginally better) than the BFG AT's I used to swear by. Lots of motorway, lots of towing and they go off road virtually every day. No real signs of wear yet maybe just the slightest rounding of the corners on the front, but that's just steering :thumb2

I would buy another set without hesitation and if you do a deal with tyres direct you can get a pretty good price :thumbs

What type are you referring to plank? :nenau

Weren't these what the Mavericks/Terrano's came out of the factory with as standard? I heard there were a lot of recalls due to dodgy ones that were fitted that exploded when they were first released

I run these in 31 10.50 R15 :D :thumb2
Fantastic Tyre

Duelers were standard, I usually take them off our 4x4s and use then for standing feed buckets in. BFGs were for a long time my AT of choice but I can honestly say they are no better than the Koalas I have now, perhaps slightly worse as the Koalas seem to self clean slightly better. Only longevity will tell but they had done 9k so far and all is well, plus I once tore 3 tyres in a day on cut of sapling stumps! now that's a very expensive day for BFGs mine were about half the price in the standard size for 16 inch wheels :thumb2

Erm.. But they look just like BFG AT

exactly, slightly different tread (which in my experience has self cleaned better) a good load and speed rating and half the price , even has the same rim protection bead as a BFG:thumbs

this is what I do with the Duelers I take off our 4x4s, I just took this out the back now while checking on the horses - theres another half a dozen or more in the nettles :augie

Don't do them in 265/75/16 £147.54 BFG's A/T KO Black Lettering
235/85/16 £105.95 Malatesta Koala
235/85/16 £139.14 BFG's A/T KO

you can get them for much, much less than that, as I said, try 'tyres direct' and then call and haggle. Mine are the original size for 16 inche wheels, do you want me to go outside and look at the exact size? I think their advertised price for the standard 16 size is under £80 and I am sure I paid under £70! :thumb2

here give this a go:

Thanks Plank. I don't need any tyres at the mo, just looking whats about for when I do. I like these BFG's that I got, but reserving proper judgement till the next batch of white stuff comes.

The Ford Ranger I use for work had Duller HT's on and all 4 were Sh!oT at 34.5K when i got it so put a set of BFG AT's on the AT's have done 32,500miles sofar and still got the knobbles on the centres.
Well that's my argument to finance sorted to justify the extra £25/tyre:augie
next set due in another 60K and they will still get £20 each back on ebay with 3mm alround I guess.
I'm probably doing 35K a year so will wear them out. might not be worth the investment for privat use.

Next set due in 60k... You think you'll total 90k out of a set then. Bloody good going if you do.
