Lol, ok, I'll get out in it and at leAst get these various jobs done!!

now that must be worth a few brownie points with Mr's Clivvy. Can you tell me if the cps is on the back or at the front of the engine, there is a disk fitted to the engine to put a signalin the cps but i'll have to dig a bit more on this one, how are you checking the fault codes?

Cheers matey, appreciate the help and support!
My cps is located at the front, between the belts. I am checking the codes via the diagnostic socket under the dash, only the two faults show now after fixing everything else. I'm convinced a new cps will help, I just can't source one!!

The plot thickens. Spoke to Nissan in Wakefield, they can find FOUR different sensors, based on the month!! So I have to check what month mine came out, the one he quoted me was £222 but again, could be one of the four!

Always amazes me how main 'stealers' can vary so much in price!!!

I gotta admit I like Nissan Wakefield though, always helpful - Nissan Halifax are too, service guy there looked over my car when I had some problems and suggested a couple of fixes before (in his words) I paid through the roof for them to have it in!!! :clap

Nissan Leeds...... set of w*n**rs!!!! :augie :augie

Good luck with getting it fixed... out of interest have you tried Thornton 4x4Breakers in Bradford to see if they have anything?

havent tried Thorntons yet because i want new parts, already wasted money on a used one, and that was no better...!!

i got two part no's for the closest sensors to my year, first is 259777f400(05/96-10/97 and 259777f405 (10/97-onwards), my car was registered 17/01/97, so to me, i need the first one assuming the "10" is the month...??or are all cars registered the same times??

Drawing on my nissan experience of years ago those numbers are so similar I wouldn't be surprised if one was suprceded by the other.

all i want is one with the right plug! i've even resorted to looking at engine pics on ebay, seen a few that are 97 but with a big clylinder type connection thing on the end of the bracket that holds the plugs, and only one with the same connection as mine... :(

BUMP**

ordered a sensor. i gave in. went to main dealer in Halifax. They will have it in tomorrow for me, £188 please sir thankyou.

well, if it fixes that particualr fault, its worth it.

only problem is it TERRIBLE timing. I spent all of today trying to change the pads on my Mazda, but it turns out the caliper has seized, and i cant unseize it!! changed th epads fine, after spending most of the day just getting the wheel on. Wheel nuts were real tight, then had to buy a new brace for the locking wheel nut, then wheel was seized to rotor THEN i found the caliper seized, so thats another £80.

my overdraft is getting way too big now, may have to ask the other half for a loan...!!

cps

I hope your 3rd cps fixes your fault, if not check the 4 prong signal plate on the back of the crankshaft pulley, 1 damaged prong will mess up the signal from the cps no end.

er...the what?? where is it? I could do with checking it if its easy befoe I got spending £188.....

signal plate

The signal plate is on the back of the fanbelt drive pulley on the front of the crankshaft held on with a BIG nut, The 4 prongs on the plate pass next to the end of the cps and may just need a clean.

Eyup Clivvy, hope you get it sorted out with the sensor cos mines started cutting out now too:doh

Jim

pigs. Nissan didnt deliver my part, it'll be Monday now.

Jim, going to go pick it up Monday, and I will fit it when I get back home. I will then go for a good 15 mile drive up Outlane, and if all's well (fingers crossed) will feed back to you.

Hi Clivvy, just checked the plug and socket connectors today and mine looks to be the same as yours.

Jim

try pulling connecter apart , blowing with air line or similar , then a quick squirt of contact cleaner , put back together , and seperate a few times .

good idea, but the pins are clearly visable, and the actual sensor is sealed....

besides, i have read that quite simply, over time, they degrade and have to be replaced, i guess now is my time...

metal does age , and it loses some of its conductivity as a result if exposed to air etc ,its worth a try anyway
