certainly is, but its one of the first things i tried. i read that over time, the magnets also lose thier strength, and does the wire. the wires have a very poor resistance, wher eits supposed to be 900ohms, they are somert like 1400. the problems occur when the car is hot (so yes, the sensor isnt totally failed, cos the car starts) but i did read that ckps FAIL, WHEN THE car is hot, so this fits my symptoms.

i pick up a new sensor this afternoon, and i will be approx £200 poorer :( but if it does it, i'll be ecstatic! i remain neutral though, because i do have one other fault to resolve...

ok, new sensor is in. havent had time for a proper 10/15 mile drive, so took it round the back track, thats about 2 mile, then i took it round the streets etc. engine definately warmed up (getting hot air inside). I cleared the codes before going out, I didnt get a MIL on, and I havent had codes re-occur, but like i say, I need to do a proper drive. I would have expected any problem to show itself though, as last time, i only drove it round the back and the mil came on...so...fingers crossed...and toes please!

Good job Clivvy:thumb2
I sent your sockets back today, thanks again:cool:

ok, I did a small test run yesterday after fitting the new ckp sensor, but we are talking a very short run. I cleared the codes also. took it for a longer run tongiht, 16 miles ish over varied conditions-hills, fast roads, slow roads, water logged roads and the very roughtrack out the back of our house.

all ok.....

dare i say it? well, why not, is sod so mean? everything seems fine. car warms up nicely, and engine certainly purrs more confidently than it did before. it accelerates nice, but i only got to take it up to 50, bit too wet for messing about on such dodgy roads. I didnt get the MIL on at all, apart from my washer bottle warning light, but thats always flashing, the dash was quiet.

the car sounds better too. since cleaning my intercooler, and fitting a new K&N, i geta right whistle from the engine, it sounds like i have a turbine under the bonnet...it sounds ok, was not tehre before cleaning the IC/new filter (or ifit was it was much slighter..), so i assume this is the turbo getting some much needed air (only makes the sound when the turbo kicks in).

well, i've touched lots of wood, i may have fixed my car, of course, with the help of you lot-legends.

woo hoo !!!! another member sorted !!!! , i love this club :thumb2:thumb2:clap:clap
