It's one thing sorting out a dangerous wall by making it fall over in a controlled manor, but I think Arson is taking it a bit far, especially with gas leaking in the local area.

Having bad neighbours must be awful and I feel for you Alex but first step must be seeking advice. If you have a local citizen's advice bureau make an appointment and show them photos.
You must be able to email photos to your local council and planning offices.
Keep a diary of all contacts with the neighbours and try and keep calm. It must be frustrating but you own your property so just walking away isn't an option.

Obviously getting that wall removed is a priority due to safety and pushing it over in the early hours is the quickest way of dealing with it. I'd be inclined to book a travel lodge somewhere and get someone round to do it on the quiet so you have an alibi.

Keep taking pics and logging incedents with times.
Log any conversations you have with either them or the builders and get the council involved.
I wouldn't do anything that's likely to end up costing you as I bet, and I'm sticking my neck out here, but I bet they have no 3rd party insurance.

To pick up on a safety issue, walls less than that have been known to topple and kill children.
Get your views in writing into the council ASAP, if there is danger, they MUST and WILL act.

If they fail to act, and something happens, then if they knew about it and did nothing then they would be criminally negligent.

That wall is dangerous.

Alex, get loads of pics, a timeline of the whole farce, and go to planning office and building inspector. I daresay they have broken or badly bent a few regulations, and the buttressed for the wall look as if they are your side of the boundary as well, so there is a boundary dispute there......:nenau

Check your insurance policy, if you have legal cover get on to it yesterday, my cover gives me £50K perhaps that is why I pay £300 a year, worth it in a case like yours.

Gas board doesn't exist, its southern gas networks now - Sticking a disc in the meter is common practice, it should have been really capped and meter removed but due to 'The gas board' being broken up years ago the meter is owned by someone else and southern gas networks are just a contractor that provides emergency response to keep the gas suppliers legal, doesn't help your plight but unlike my Terrano I do know about gas so this was a rare chance for me to shine

Wow thanks for the overwhelming responses chaps, banshees way has to be the most sensible, I have dated pictures of various fires ect but that is about all.

Unfortunately the builders (both lots) didn't speak English so not much to be done there... The second lot were somewhat better but so it has been said hey were both not paid...

They have also placed a new flume out of the roof that is free standing and also on the piss

It will get sorted... One way or another, must stay on the legal side tempting as it is...

Agreed and all they have to do is remove the disc, 2 mins at the most, even if the meter had been removed it is a simple matter to join the two pipes together, the only real way is to cut it off in the road, but costs money, Rick

I had neighbours from hell a few years ago so I know how frustrating it can be. Our issues were solved when they wanted to move and sell, I went to their estate agents and informed them that the property was subject to a boundary dispute, I was asked how I came by this information and I confirmed that I was the neighbour with the dispute! The offending dividing wall issue was delt with in hours. The day that they moved out I sprayed champagne in the street and toasted their departure:thumb2
The street is now a nicer place to be
