Are rear axles interchangeable?

Thanks guys for all of your good wishes. Here's (I hope) a couple of pics. Not much to see really but if anyone undertakes a similar project I'll be happy to give whatever advice I can. Rgds CL

Here's a shot of it being raised by the two jacks. It all went fairly smoothly after that, just a matter of connecting the various components and installing/adjusting the new brake shoes. East-peasy!!!!

How did you clean it up then mate ? and has the paint flaked off yet ??

Also, how easy did the abs sensors come out ?

I ground off the worst rust with an angle grinder and removed the rest with various shaped wire brushes in an electric drill. The paint is still good but its only been there a week! Re the ABS sensors, they came out easy enough except for one securing bolt which I broke and had to drill out. My advice would be if you don't need to remove them then leave them in place, unless they are defective. If you do decide to remove them be very gentle when removing the bolts (unlike me!), use plenty of release agent and maybe even heat to free them.
