Hi team

Seen a few people on here who have removed the rear ARB's.

1. Is this just for off road?

2. Do you remove the fronts?

3. Is it to improve articulation?

4. Is it legal? will you pass the MOT?

5. What effect will it have on road driving?

Thanks fellas!

P.S. just watched my dog get up with a dead leg, looked like shed just come in from the local after drinking 10 pints of black gold :lol

won't pass mot and handling will be interesting , and i'm sure your insurance will be void

Oh contraire.

If you remove the ARB, and all the drop links etc ten they will pass - mine and plenty of other 4x4 (and other modified and competition cars too) have. Handling isn't really an issue, sure it rolls a lot but there's actually more grip both on and off the road. Insurance wise, as with all mods, if you tell them it won't be void.

Anyway back to the original questions.

1. Is this just for off road? - the advantages are for off the road.

2. Do you remove the fronts? You can - up to you really.

3. Is it to improve articulation? Yes and it really does make a huge difference not just in outright maximum articulation but also just general rough ground. The suspension can do what it is designed to do and absorb the terrain whilst the body stays level on top.

4. Is it legal? will you pass the MOT? See above

5. What effect will it have on road driving? There's a lot more roll/lean but once you get used to that its not so bad. If you corner really hard withe the rear anti roll bar off there is a tendency for it to roll so far that it lifts the inside front wheel off the floor but you don't actually notice on the inside. There is actually more grip as the wheels and tires are free to follow the road more accurately.

Adz, everytime I see your signature pic, it reminds me of when I broke my ankle playing footy. Ouch!

But...

What there is...

Is a lot more fun off road & better handling.!
Yes it does lean more on road but ya not going round corners on 3 wheels, just leaning a tad more :clap

Note on the MOT bit you guys..........
IT IS NOT AN MOT PASS.
You may get away with it to a sympathetic examiner but if you get a jobs worth you will fail.
That's because if the car was designed to have them and their "ABSENT" then you fail. Simples.
If you cut off the mounts you're still only improving your chances of getting away with it.
So take the ARBs off but keep them aside for the next mot and stick em on for the day:thumbs
FACT
PS flex is cool Zippy:cool:

void or valid?

Insurance wise, as with all mods, if you tell them it won't be void.(quote)

so if i tell them i have removed my brakes my insurance will still be valid???????
i think not.

They wouldn't accept that though. However if you tell them about ARBs in my experience they ae quite happy. There are plenty of examples about on the market where one model will have them and another not or have a diffferent thickness etc. Likewise brake sizes vary however they all have them.
