The clutch on my 14 year old Nisson Pathfinder (89K miles) began to slip a week or so ago. The clutch was replaced about 6 years and 35000 miles ago, the need for replacement was sooner than I had hoped but that is life at least it didn't go whilst I was towing the boat. The MOT was due 10th of November, I decided to take it to my usual garage and get them to do a pre MOT check, they said it would pass, we chatted about the clutch and I decided to have it replaced and the dual mass fly wheel replaced with a solid one and have the vehicle serviced and MOT'd on the 11th of October so now MOT'd to the 10th November 2022.
Yesterday I picked the vehicle up. The clutch now engages at a completely different point of pedal travel, at the bottom, which is fine, always felt it disengaged too near the top of the pedal travel.
The vibration when the engine is idling with the clutch dis-engaged seems greater and also with clutch engaged when driving. I had expected engaging and disengaging the clutch to be a bit rougher with a sharper bite I had not expected there to be more vibration with the clutch fully engaged or the vehicle in neutral. Is that something I should have been expecting?
Does anyone have any experience of changing from a dual mass to solid flywheel? If so on what vehicle?
I had an issue with the 4WD selection and its display being up the shoot but this seems to have resolved itself when I stopped the vehicle having driven it a few miles and switched the engine off for a while then back on. .
The ESP (Electronic Stabilitty Program) light is also flashing on occasionally, I intend to take the vehicle for a drive and see whether that resolves itself, Ithink it has done this briefly before. If it does not, it will be going back for further attention.
I didn't drive the car yeasterday. Today when I went to drive it the 4WD Light was back on the 4wd graphic had disappeared and the ESP light was on again. I drove it a mile or two and stopped to walk the dog. When I whe nI returned I think the fault was there as I drive home. I phoned the garage and arranged to take the car back in, when I drove it down no faults were showing.
They are telling me that it might be a sensor (can't remember what they said on) that had been subject to a recall. I am bit dubious as I have never had the issue before. Anyone know what has to be disconnected/moved to change the clutch and flywheel? I gues the gear box and transfer box, what else?
