Black SWB DID pulled up next to me at the petrol station earlier, the second Shogun I met today :sly I said how are they on fuel mate?
Welll err scratching his head, he says Not good lad!
18 round town and about 25 on a run......

I only put £6 petrol in... to mix with theVeg :naughty

My brother had a 2.8 TD and that did around 20 MPG on a run and 15 around town:eek:

So AD Ent, looks like your a bit of a Shogun magnet:lol

terranos are not much better on fuel.

true dat . but they are old stylee diesel power. the DID engine is common rail which I thought was an efficient burner. Can get 30 steady away out of the terrano. + can run Veg.

I do really like the 3.2 did. I had my eye on one if anything happens to the T2. But the MPG and tax band is just.... too much for me. unless its cheap.

well i have a 3.1 tdi isuzu bighorn ..... and i get 18 mpg regardless of whether im on a run or not , although on a long run in overdrive once i think it worked out around 20 mpg

Shoguns are shite IMO :D

Why do you say that...

I can understand that statement about the green oval, continually breaking half shafts, drinks fuel like it is free, and only really any good off road when heavily modded, and all the factory fitted rust holes are dealt with, no creature comforts, and practically every nice addition has to be ordered as a factory fit extra, they say even windscreen wipers are a compulsory factory fit extra!

But when ever I have seen a Shogun off road, even in their standard form, they seem pretty capable. They have all the nice creature comforts you expect of a Japanese motor, and have a mass of easily sourced goodies to make them even better off road as well. The only thing that ever stopped me getting one, was the fact that they seem to be excessively juicy in comparison to cars like the T2.

Defender is very capable standard and mine does better mpg even with 34s fedima sirocco's and remember the t2 speedo are about 10% out.

I do like the shoguns, Front steering and suspension is alot better than the t2. Also a rear difflock helps.

Reality check, shoguns should be just as good in std form as the T2 , in fact better if it has the diff lock option fitted :D
I think they actually look better, they command a better price usually BUT are more juicy

I think it goes Shoguns diff lock. Pajeros LSD... What about the newer shape ones 02 03 etc with the DID engine? What they got? Dont see many Pajeros in that shape, not like the 2.8's, more Paj's than Shogies.
Oo Oo would love an Evo, oh yes please:bow

No idea what the newer ones have :nenau wasn't bothered once I realised that T2 was a better package for the money.
Evo sounds the dogs doodaas but sheesh low mpg I think.
I'd rather do a V8 diesel transfer :sly

and remember the t2 speedo are about 10% out.
Most cars speedo's are out, my V70 was about the same.

I know this is off topic, but when the T2 speedo reads fast, e.g, my speedo says I am doing 77mph, but TomTom says only doing 70mph, does that also mean that the odometer is also going to be out?

So if I sit at 70mph for an hour according to the TomTom, even though I have only travelled 70 real miles, the Odometer will be showing I have travelled 77 miles.

I had assumed that was the case as the odeometer is connected to the same speedo cable etc :augie
Mine was spot on once I got to 33" tyres :D

I will check the odometer at the weekend, I'll put Google maps Nav on and note the mileage on the car and compare the two at the end of the 50 ish miles of m/way driving. Anyone else like to join in on the experiment?

I was thinking that, but haven't got any reasonable runs planned for a while. Local roads are not much good, as too many twists and turns, you need a fairly straight bit of motorway.

Can't use the TomTom, as it never wants to go the same way I do...:lol:lol

yep speedo runs fast on the T2, fitting 33's corrects this to a more accurate reading tho, thats the only reason i put 33's on mine honest :augie:augie

If nobody has looked at the Shogun reviews a few posts above, I think this just about describes my reaction..
I wont be getting one!

"I do like my Shogun, however, I bought when it was 3 years old from a local dealer and got a 1 year warranty on it. A month after the warranty ran out, the auto gearbox went and I was horrified that a car that was 4 years old with 55k on the clock should have that problem. I contacted the dealer and Mitsubishi, but they were not sympathetic in any way and after a quote for £7000 for a new gearbox, I had to get a reconditioned one for £4500. I am still paying off the credit card bill 3 years on. It's a big monster and I feel incredibly safe in it. I keep thinking of changing it and then decide not to."
