after travelling home from work thursday i could smell brakes burning, it was pouring with rain so i couldnt investigate. :doh friday when i got to work i could smell them again,:doh i touched both front auto hubs, to find the o/s (drivers side) to hot to touch, i nursed it home after work, then after an hour leaving it cool started stripping, i found the top caliper slider was sticking and a lot of dust under the caliper piston dust rubbers. after a liberal coating of copper grease everything is free and moving again, the brake pads need changing, heat has cooked them and they are starting to break apart. iv`e ordered a set, they should be in stock on monday. my t2 drives a lot better no resistance against the throttle,
when the pads arrive i will fit them, cleaning the n/s and copper greasing them aswell. is there anything i should look out for whilst undertaking this job, everyone ive spoken too says its the caliper thats at fault, but since iv`e cleaned it it seams to be working fine.:thumb2

The caliper slider pins do sieze over time, so check them once a year.
Easy nearly free fix.
Copper slip grease is best for these.

Looks like you have solved the problem.

Some brake pads have anti squeal shims behind the pad and the piston, but these corrode to nothing, but I find they are not required as some copper slip on the back is more than adequate.

thanks for your reply, would you know have i got to grease the wheel bearing know its been over heated, that seems a bigger job.
i drove it this evening, it freewheels alot better no binding from the brake, but i have a whiring noise from the o/s front ,:nenau it could be the cooked brake pads which intend to change tomorow, as soon as i can pick up the new set. if the bearing is suspect i would rather do the complete job when its stripped to replace the brakes, if you can advise me i would greatly appreciate it.:thumb2
