Foxy was playing tractor at the shearing last night as the Nashy is all set up for muck shifting at the moment with a large concrete counterweight on the back... needless to say the Troll didn't feel a thing, shifted it on tickover without a grumble :thumbs

Wasn't towing far or on the road so didn't bother putting the clip in (the autolock holds the pin in anyway)

She's only standard but as a Troll that still means she sits on 31" ATs, with front and rear live axles, a disconnecting rear anti roll bar and rear diff lock :naughty... so I'm hoping the only weak link will be the twit behind the wheel... although with the long wheelbase I will have to watch my crossovers!

Will prob unbolt the towbar flange as well since it's only a couple m12 bolts and I've got a torque wrench in the toollbox for re-attaching it - it should give me a better departure angle.

Yeh jack under the drawbar, my open the small back door and get a guide back from my Grandad. Pin in, let oil out jack, watch rear suspension sink down :augie and away we go! :lol

Hmm... problem is I don't know anyone with a trailed plough I could use (mine needs the tractor lift arms on it).

Now a triple set of 2.6 ton rolls that is a possibility... I see myself doing some rolling come Autumn :naughty

Not mine or my mate's unfortunately, but he does have a set of rolls exactly the same.

The extra pair of wheels are just fitted to increase traction and reduce compaction of the ground. It can make the tractor awful wide though and in my opinion you can get the same result, if not better, by just fitting one set of wider tyres at a lower pressure than the narrower ones, which then keeps the vehicle width at a more manageable scale

when i had my rangey classic always fancied it doing some farming, suppose
when you see images of early '80"s ploughing and such. pretty sure the rr
had a higher tow weight for slow agricultral work. so max braked trailer was
either 3500, or even 4000kg back then, it was a '74 model and think plate
said 6000kg at upto 18mph or similar. Mind the police used classics and
stipulated had to be able to rescue a lorry at the then gross of 32/38 tons.

must find the film of west yorks and greater manchester units dragging
wagons on m62 early 70s in snow.

This is one of the many drawbacks I find with the new Alko and Winterhoff caravan hitches, the need for a grease-less ball and an extended neck (Alko only) I have to keep changing flippping tow balls and jaws. Having said that with a detachable tow bar often you are stuck with just a ball at a fixed height whether you like it or not!

if go for a jaw ball combi where ball isnt on pin and pin is further in,towards car then
ball should be atleast as far out as an alko extended. was on my troll. not got round
to putting one on t2 as not using alko on caravan yet, but for cost of alko extended
nec k ball will plough that into a combi. also can then run break away cable round
the pin.
