well, some interesting comments and for the record, I ramble, cycle, climb, canoe and lane.
I like the countryside, I don't like some people's attitude towards it. I did stereotype the bobble hat brigade, I will however say that most (99%) I've met have been very polite and courteous, only on ten or so occasions have I encountered determined opposition on a legal right of way, having been stoned by a group of ramblers, they caused damage to my car, that happened in derbyshire and was reported to the police, and yes, it was photographed by another car.
Most ramblers are just like everyone else who use the countryside, but there are extremists in all camps. I outlined the extremes deliberatly because MPV users are not the only extremists out there.
We have all probably gone where we shouldn't. I certainly have, but like others here, I know better now. I can remember driving water breaks it neck and monks trod, when they were still open, and the Strata, what a great lane with amazing views, it is not signed and there has been representation to local authorites to make it so. CRAG has offered to install the signs but no response as yet. I don't want ever to be 'holier than thou' and if I come across as that, then I apologise, for goodness sake tell me as well, sometimes I get carried away.......
I do want to see a large body of users unite to lobby their local authorities and national parks to keep the rights of way open. We can only do that if we keep to the law. Otherwise, we are open to criticism.
Take the wayfarer, the bomb hole at the top by the box. So many choose to drive through it, or down the side of the fence on the south western side. That can only be damaging to our cause.
I understand those who drive in a non damaging way on roads which may be forestry, in places where others tend not to go, can I suggest that those who do that, seek the permission of the land owner? Asking can only go two ways??

I'm happy I'm here and laning, I want to see the lanes kept open for future generations and that challenge lies with us. In my own flawed way, I can only do what I can with those who think along similar lines.

I'm hoping that Denbigh CC will give permission and materials to repair Allt y Badi, when and if that happens, I'd like as many volunteers as possible to get involved...........

Excellent response Dave - thank you - a very pleasant contrast to previous members who chose to stick with the 'we know best and you stay out of it' routine. As I think you can see, we've had some negative responses in the past to requests for help/clarification and that has set low expectations.

Absolutely understand yor bobble hat thing - I've had similar (without the stones!) issues previously on the Ridgeway when it was still open, and so understand there are always bad apples.

The signing of Strata woud be a great idea as I said....if anyone needs confirmation that there are locals happy to help do so, take it as read won't you. And if Allt y Badi isn't too far, we are happy to come and help in whatever way we can when the time comes.

Just for my benefit, whats the last location (Wayfarer) you referred to?

cheers

Ocelot, fair do's.

The ones I object to are horse riders.

One of our dogs likes the taste of horse crap, I think its terrible they dont clear up like dog owners.

Actually lets be specific, we don't like anyone who doesn't live and let live, thats all we ask. :thumbs:thumbs:thumbs

There are lots of very nice people in the countryside but why do I always trip over aggressive cyclists, anal ramblers, arrogant horse riders and cretins who hate dogs and thinks they are going to get killed by a fecking poodle!

Ooh sorry, was I ranting there? :doh
