if it is not clicking ether the relay is duff or it is not getting a signal to operate, try swapping a similar relay from elsewhere, Rick

Do you know where there would be one like that? I've checked all the usual places.

Do you have one Rick on any of your breakers?

yes I have loads, you connect a battery to 85 & 86 the relay should click, on the connector it plugs into if you use a short bit of wire and link 30 & 87 the horn should sound, failing that a blue relay will work if you have one yours is I think a Mk3 so not sure, Rick

Going to try and suss this problem this afternoon and get the grey matter working.

I'll update later on with news and maybe pictures if I find anything interesting causing the problem :doh

I'm going with the approach that I'm going to trace all the wiring first and check for any damage (chaffing etc)

Not much progress with this at the moment apart from it having a thread open and being on my "To-Do" list

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm confused as to where I should even start

I remember this thread!

If I were you I'd start by replacing the horn, preferably with a brand new one, and likewise the relay, brand new.

This way you have eliminated two potential problem areas.

You're going shopping for relays for your spotlights, so you can stock up on a few!

Already done both those things, no difference, only thing that changed is I don't even get 2v at the wiring anymore, it reads 0v constantly :(

Right.

Then it can only be one of two things.

1. The wiring from the alarm is goosed, and needs replacing.

2. The alarm is goosed.

Do you really need this alarm?

I've always admired your enthusiasm for rectifying problems, but I can't help feeling that the effort to fix this out ways any benefit.

For a fraction of the time/effort, I'd write the Nissan alarm off and go aftermarket.

Here endeth my two-penneth worth!

I'm dreading if it's wiring as that's my least favourite job as I always feel as if I'm not really competent to be doing the job.And the thought of pulling trim panels with clips pinging and breaking all over the show and having to curl up into positions only spiders are capable of, really puts me off :(

But I really want my OEM alarm to work as I love keeping things standard, OEM+ has always been my motto. I suppose I ought to just dive in and take it in my stride, I'll picture and document the findings.

If it's not working I suppose my insurance company could invalidate my insurance if my car was broken into :nenau

Are f*****g havin' me on !

What's left that's standard on your truck.

:jesterbg

I haven't laughed that hard since the wife's cat launched himself at her arse doing a bar-fly act when she bent over one day.

Standard!

You're a strange one you are.

Best of luck with whatever you decide bloke.

Its all Nissan stuff is what I meant guys, like I haven't just stripped stuff and put 3rd party kit in it's place, I've been contemplatin Winch bumpers etc but really like the Bubble Terrano ones I've got now hence why I swapped for one of those.

All my inspiration at first came from seeing pics of BonesXU1's truck from the Isel of Man, I wanted to look exactly like that and then just got a bit carried away with the wheels :lol

Getting carried away is completely ok pal. Keep it up:naughty

Ha didnt even realise terranos had an alarm i just get the indicators flashing. Good luck with this man! Hope you get it fixed
