i do:) the wire im on about is on the outerside of the mass sensor!! so if it take the sensor out from the air flow pipe!! and unplug it i will take a pic !!!!! dont u have this wire on your air mass sensor? its on the outer part!!! not inside the plastic case of the sensor it is connected at 2 points!

This is my 02 plate - but can't remember if its a Bosch or a Hitachi (mainly cos its never given me a problem)....think its the latter. I'll stick a post of the wifes MkII in a mo - thats definitely Hitachi. Ignore the bit at bottom left, thats where your airbox will be. :augie

your not the only 1:doh take a pic tomorrow so all can see!!! what nissan have been up to!!! their is 5 wires to the air mass sensor in the plug bit! and a wire on the outside of the sensor which you can see and it looks like a resistor half way along it!!!!

The pics I posted above Sid are standard production, so I don't think for a minute that Nissan have done anything unusual to your truck....the fact that you say you can 'see a resistor' tells me someones been fecking about with it. Manufacturers don't usually leave such components floating in the breeze....

And by the way, the Bosch and Hitachi MAFs arer not interchangeable - plugs and wiring are different. Plus, you need a special fitment to remove it....its normally two screw heads with female star drives with a spigot in the middle.... EDIT just realised thats only true on my MkIV the MkII seems to have just two phillips....

the second one is the Hitachi, the two screw's come out and then you can pull out the sensor and see clearly the two elements and if they need cleaning ( switch cleaner).

The Hitachi are rare and I believe expensive, so if you see a cheap one on ebay well worth having. regards bri

Sid,
There was a Nissan fix in the early days of the tdi, to add a resistor to one of the wires; to prevent a missing problem that some T2s had, at the time there was a kit available to install it, but this was made NLA and the later ecus were modified to overcome this problem. Yours being a much later model would have a much later ecu so should not have needed such a mod. But someone may have got hold of a copy of the bulletin and wrongly added one.

thanks too all for all the posts:) the wire is not on the out side of the airmass sensor........ like in the very kind gents pics:bow mine is the same as in pics...........if you take the sensor out... its fixed to the side of the sensor held at 2 points! and it is very visible:nenau will put up pic just have not had time at the mo!!!been busy decorating :( cant unstand the bird never liked the wall paper i picked what wrong with superman:eek:
